Rear tires are on a nationwide back order. They’re estimating 12 weeks. The front tires should be here in a week.

I’m going to focus on correcting the belt slip first. 3.0” pulley on the way. It’s rated at 12psi. The IW Balancer is 5%, so we’ll see what the nets for total boost.

Once I get that figured out, I’ll take it back for an ethanol tune then I’ll get to the brakes and wheels.

The Reaper setup uses a 14” 2-piece rotor. I want to upgrade the rear brakes without upsetting the brake bias. I’m thinking Taurus calipers with a good pad. The Taurus calipers have a 42mm piston compared to the Cobra 38mm. I looked at the Baer kit with 13” rear rotors that uses GT calipers, but they’re solid rotors. People who’ve used them said the stock Cobra brakes outperformed them on the track due to the vented rotors. I’m open to options if anyone has any suggestions.

I think you'll be fine with the cobra rears. I upgraded to the 14" stoptechs up front and drive my car pretty hard. Never really noticed and brake bias.

New pulley showed up today. Let’s see if this cures it…

The new pulley/belt combo didn’t solve the issue. This combo is even worse. It’s going from 13psi to 8psi. Starts losing boost around 4,000rpm. I’m beyond frustrated. An 8 rib setup is going to cost $1,500+ and I’m not willing to keep aimlessly throwing money at this problem.

What do you have for a tensioner on it?

OEM tensioner that comes with the PBH accessory kit. I think the version I have came off a F150. No one makes an heavy duty version. I’ve reached out to VMP & PBH. Power by the Hour didn’t respond & VMP came back with a tensioner that’s used on Mustangs that don’t have the PBH kit.

The 07-14 GT500 tensioner looks similar so I ordered on to see if I can make it work. If so, I’ll buy an HD version.

So, looking at that kit it looks like the tensioner is sitting in the stock location as a coyote. Get a tensioner from American racing solutions, great product and awesome customer service. Its a little pricey but it works.

Thank you. It looks like they make some nice products. I ordered an OEM GT500 tensioner before I saw your post. It should be here tomorrow for test fitting then I will make a decision on how I’m going to proceed.

While I wait on parts, I’ll work with what I have. My wife got me an authentic Saleen S281 spoiler in July.

Had just enough paint. Thankfully cause they want $25/oz, 8 oz minimum.

Yeah, the actual OEM Saleen S281 spoiler fits like poo.
Kaenan used to be the way to go, not sure if they are still available though.

If I didn’t have so much money invested in this , I’d buy a 94/95 Cobra spoiler. I always liked them and aftermarket sells them without a light.

I actually have an OEM 94/5 spoiler and trunk. At one point I plan on installing the trunk on my 98 (no third brake light in the 94/5 trunk). I'll be keeping my Kaenan S281 though and selling the OEM crabclaw at some point down the road.

Left weight on the spoiler for a week and it appeared to have done the trick. It’s been a 5 days since I removed the weight and the ends are still in the sitting closer to the fenders.

The GT500 tensioner fit, but the pulley was too big and touched the balancer. Tried the pulley from the stock tensioner, also too large. VMP’s HD tensioner has a 58mm pulley (1/2” smaller) and 60lb spring. The American Racing tensioner has 50lb spring and is about $100 more, so I went with the VMP coupled with a RPM Belt. The belt was pushing off the front of the 3.00 pulley so I tried the 2.875 for shits a d giggles. The belt stayed in place.

Went around the block and boost held at 15psi

I’ll shake it down some more over the weekend to see if the belt slip is rectified.

Still dropping boost above 4000rpm. Used a spacer behind the 3.00 pulley which corrected the belt ailment issue but not the belt slip.

I cannot find an 8-rib balancer that’s stock size. ATI makes one that’s 10% overdrive. Innovators West doesn’t have an 8-rib listed on their site. I need to call them since I just bought a 6-rib. Wonder if the have an 8-rib rear that would bolt up to my hub and front.

Nice set of cars man! Quick question what are the production numbers on the 98 roush? I never knew they made them until I saw you post and started digging and noticed no production numbers that I can find!!!!
Roush has been doing Fords for years and did some AMAZING late 90's cars. I was on my way home from work one day driving down telegraph road in MI. They had 75 south shut down. I was in my 95 Cobra ( supercharged ) A red 97 with a Cobra R hood and some sick ground effects rolls up next to me. I jumped my car and he looked and smiled at me. The next light we went! He left me like I was pulling my E brake! The next light I caught up. Flagged him down and started talking to him about the car. IT WAS JACK ROUSH!!! When he first introduced himself I did not put 2 and 2 together. He said to me. Your car hung pretty good! I laughed and he then said he had toned that car down for the street. Him and his production manager were on the way to Matthews Ford in Oregon Ohio to show them the car. They were kind of lost because the freeway was closed. I lived right behind the dealer. I had them follow me to the dealer. They gave me their cards and told me to call if I ever needed anything! Sorry for the long blast. Just brought back a found memory.
