Got the clutch installed. It’s a thing of beauty. Too bad no one will ever see it aside from this picture.

The 26 spline seemed straightforward but the cover wouldn’t go back on. It was about 1/4” from seating. I tried a bunch of things, but I wasn’t going to force it so I took it to a shop to have them button it up. I’ll take peace of mind for $100, Alex!

The 4:10’s are probably barely broke in at this point, but I’m wondering if they’re going to be too short for the additional torque that’s forthcoming. I still have the stock 3:27’s or the better option might be a differential out of a Mountaineer with 3:55’s plus they have a 31 spline carrier, so I could upgrade the axles too.

I’m going to table the decision for the time being and leave it as-is. Get everything installed and tuned to see how it handles.

So I thought I had a T56 from an 03/04 Cobra. Turns out I have an aftermarket transmission that has CobraR gearing. It’s part TUET-1259 with 2.97:1 First gear. Sounds cool, but my alignment issue is related to this discovery.

OE Transmissions have a 31T gear on the input shaft. This transmission has a 29T gear. It’s difficult to see, but the shaft that came out of my transmission is on the right. Notice the gear is slightly inside the ring compared to slightly outside on the 26 spline.

I’m currently searching for an input shaft that is both 26 spline with 29t gear.

So this is very interesting. My T-56 also says TUET-1259 however my clutch went in no problems. I know it's Wikipedia, but it states the TUET-1259(mech speedo), TUET-1260 (elec speedo) and TUET-2060 (cobra) all have a 2.97:1 1st gear.
Borg-Warner T-56 transmission

This https://www.svtperformance.com/threads/what-kind-of-t-56-do-i-have.715042/ thread I found states the following:

Huge shout out to Jason Bailey at Texas Drivetrain for coming through with the 29t 26-spline input shaft.

I have about 300 break-in miles. The transmission shifts really well, the pedal feel is great. There’s a very light whining when accelerating. Sounds like gear noise. I assume it’s the input shaft. No noise in neutral, only while accelerating. The noise is so light others have a hard time hearing it. I guess it’s prominent to me since I know the car well. The noise doesn’t get louder or quieter regardless if the car is hot or cold. I will continue to monitor it, but it doesn’t appear to be anything serious. Hopefully I can log enough miles this week to full break-in the clutch and start installing the blower.

Been a few months since the last update. Car is running well. Have 650+ miles since the clutch and transmission upgrades. Still has a light whine that most people cannot hear, but it’s shifting and driving perfectly.

Started the supercharger installation yesterday. I replaced the 400lph fuel pump with a Hellcat 525lph pump. It barely fit, so my next upgrade would require a 03/04 Cobra tank. Hopefully this setup will be enough for the time being.

525 lph pump, Fore FC2 controller, -8 feed, -6 return, with ID1050x injectors.

While installing the new pump I decided to start the car before I lifted the tank back into position and discovered the 90° fitting on the -8 supply line was leaking through the relief / weep hole. I swapped it out with another fitting and it did the same thing. I discovered the fitting on the fuel pump assembly had an imperfection. These have fittings zero tolerance. I used some steel wool to clean up
The imperfection and thankfully it worked.

Bought a tubular bumper support from MAF LLC, to mount the VMP HX.

The fog lights mounted to the factory bumper support, so I’ll have to make some brackets to reinstall them.

I decided to go back to a belt driven power steering pump. The Volvo pump has variable speed motor that is driven by CANBUS. If the CANBUS signal is not provided the pump runs at roughly 70% which is not ideal while braking and turning at the same time. There’s a guy on a FB forum that claims to make a controller, but due to the COVID microchip shortage they’re severely back ordered. I decided to purchase another PHB accessory drive kit.

That being said, the front timing cover needs to be modified. I still have the modified cover, so I swapped them out and made the additional modifications for the supercharger FEAD pulley bracket.

Installed the IC pump in the passenger side fender. Used riv-nuts for the first time. Easy tool to use and budget friendly price for a clean install.

Awesome progress. I have to get me a rivet nut set tool. Where did you get yours from?

That 70% braking power is what pushed me into getting the PBH Speed Drive Kit. I'm not overly impressed with the stock Cobra brakes as it is. And yes, I know I can get better pads and stainless hoses and I will one day.

Thank you! I got the tool on Amazon. I agree the brakes on these cars are far from ideal. With the added power, I’ll be looking to upgrade soon.

The Moroso ice tank made for 03/04 Cobra’s wouldn’t fit. Hellion GT sent me a message that he might have a solution.

A modified tank
fbcbee99b3c140c3cde81bb415fb3aab.jpg

Looked like it was going to be perfect, but the untouched side was sitting a touch to high. The front corner. Note how the coolant expansion tank angles towards the front to clear the hood.

We brainstormed some ideas (trimmed the hood, moved left/right/forward/back). Unfortunately, it just wouldn’t work.

So close….

Solid ass guy, refunded my money when it didn’t work. Who does that?!?!

Eventually I’d like to go with a trunk tank and DOB HX to combat these desert temperatures, but in the meantime I grabbed a Canton tank.

Thanks again Hellion GT
