"It's just bone on bone right now",lol.
Man Brad, you sound like me.
I put up with a lot of pain before I go to a doctor about it.Even then I usually ignore them, but when it's too much you've got to do what you've got to do.
It's amazing that it's an outpatient procedure now.
That would've been a week in the hospital and months of recovery not too many moons ago.
Good luck Sir. We'll be praying for your fast recovery .
Thanks Robert. Yeah, this just kept worse.
You can do that via telehealth now. Just use your webcam and have your wife or someone you find on the street do it.
Good thing I already finished my morning coffee.
Here's to all going well, Brad (y)
Thanks Dennis.
Don’t threaten you with a good time, right!
Nice play on words, seems right too. :poop:

Cardiologist signed off on the surgery, just waiting on my GP. He'll probably want a visit, been about 1.5 years since I've seen him. I'll call them tomorrow to see what's up.
He probably just wants to stick his finger in yer butt…

I don't get this (to a point). When you have surgery everyone wants to get in on the act. Have to see your cardiologist, anesthesiologist, general practitioner, proctologist, dermatologist, podiatrist and in Brad's case his pediatrist LMAO!!!!.

Shouldn't the doctor performing the surgery know if you can handle it or not???

This is why medical treatment is so expensive. Got to see 20 people before you get the green light for the doctor who is going to do the surgery in the first place.

And this is why I don't work in the medical field. I have no idea what I'm talking about. I fix cars, not people LMAO!!!

I've heard this from numerous people Glenn. My wife and I were shocked when we went into the exam room. No BP, pulse or listen to the heart. They asked me my weight and height. They asked for any doctors I see. I gave them my GP and cardio guys. I wish I only gave them my cardiologist because they already cleared me. I haven't been to my GP in over two years. If he hasn't cleared my by 1 today, I'll call. I'll probably need an appointment, and that'll delay the surgery.

it's hard getting comfortable when I lay down at night.
Already there at 38. I can only sleep on my sides too for some damn reason. Which is probably what's caused my issues. Looks like you're going to be past this soon enough though. Hope the surgery is a snap and your PT wears low cut tops, tight jeans and 4in. heels. (But still knows what she's doing)

Me too on the PT, no bra either. Mine will probably be some light footed guy. I like sleeping on my right side, but not fun right now. What's going on with you?

I have never needed a clearance for any surgeries, even my ACDF spinal fusion C4-7, on that one they thoroughly examined me beforehand. I am mid forties and don’t have any conditions that would need sign off. My father on the other hand needed clearances from multiple docs before any procedure.

I suspect both of my shoulders are blown out. They hurt when I sleep, they pop (every now and then). And I think I'm making it worse everyday by just trying to sleep. I take 1500mg of glucosamine chondroitin + MSM at dinner and it helps tremendously. I was giving it to my German shepherd (RIP, Snowy) and saw great results with her so I started taking it too about 3yrs ago. Don't know what I'd do without it. Probably surgery or have to sleep in a recliner.

Do you have full range of motion in both. My right one pops/catches anytime I lift anything. No cushion left.

This is the only joint supplement that I feel works. I've tried other stuff, but it never felt like it made any improvement. Friends wife recommended these. After 2 weeks, my knuckles quit aching. Knees feel better. Overall improvement in joint pain.

Wow that really sucks.

Might want to get ahead of the game and start learning how wipe your ass with your other hand!

That’s no ****ing joke, had a hand surgery done 1.5 years ago, right hand… lol learning to wipe with the left was an experience..
Believe me, I've been practicing all kinds of stuff my left arm/hand. Tying my walking shoes, opening beer is going to be my wives job, along with a few other things. lol From what the doctor gave me, maybe a week before I can do light stuff. That's when PT start too.

When I scheduled my hip replacement surgery, I needed pre-op clearance from my primary doctor and my cardiologist. That is not a surprise at all. It is very common for the primary doctor to do a general exam. And if you have heart related issued, it's common sense that you'd need clearance from your cardiologist. My brother-in-law needs a hip replacement....badly. He's in constant severe pain and can hardly walk. He has blood pressure issues so before the surgery could be scheduled, he had to get a clearance from his cardiologist. Well, his cardiologist won't clear him because he has high blood pressure. That is a risk factor in surgery. So unless he can get his blood pressure under control, the orthopaedic surgeon won't do the surgery. I absolutely see nothing wrong with the precautions. My BIL could die in the operating room due to his high blood pressure. Itl really is for your personal benefit to ensure that your cardiologist, orthopaedic surgeon and primary doctor are all in the loop and on the same page.

I totally understand that. Mine is being done at a surgery center as outpatient vs hospital because I'm in pretty good shape they said. There's certain things you can't eat or take a few days before. Blood thinners are one. I have two meds I take, Metoprolol and Lisinopril, but they're not on the list they gave me. I was surprised. I called my GP Friday, but the office is closed, so I'll call Monday to try and speed this along.

Sigh, getting old has its problems.
Walking is good exercise, but shoelace tying can be back breaking.
Maybe it’s time to step into ( pun intended) a new set of “ Geezer Velcro Pros”.
I hear they’re comfy.

At your age I'm surprised you're not exclusively wearing Velcro and slip on shoes!
Great minds think alike. Didn’t see your post before I put mine out there. But it’s true!
Full disclosure – my “plumbers belly” varies from time to time, and there are times where I can barely tie my shoes and can’t breathe when doing so. It’s no joke.

Of course you're in pretty good shape, Brad. You've survived being a Super Mod here. LOL.

I,too, had to cut out certain foods and my 81mg aspirin a few days before my own hip surgery. I take Metoprolol and Lisinopril myself and didn't have to stop them either. I had to stop taking fish oil and a vitamin (A or D, I forget).
