I'm out of usual Amsoil AME Heavy Duty Diesel and Marine 15w40 and don't have time to wait for more to show up. So I went out and bought 4 gallons of this ($79.45 after tax at Advance Auto): https://amzn.to/2WteXi6 Has anyone run this stuff in their PSD, or have some positive UOA reports on it? I'm wondering if it uses the same GTL base stock as Pennzoil Ultra Premium?
I actually use it in my scca ranger. No data or statistics, just have some great influences in my life that swear by it in race engines. Sent from my iPhone using svtperformance.com
Last oil change, switched from Mobil 1 to Rotella, for our 17 SD because of local "off the shelf" availability.
That’s a good deal. Amazon wants to selling it to me for $5 more. The T-6 meets Ford diesel oil spec. Does the Amsoil meet the Ford spec? Doesn’t the 6.7 take 13 quarts.
The Amsoil I use is the stuff made for non-emissions engines. It meets no modern specs because the additive package isn't great for DPF, SCR, and EGR systems. This is it: SAE 15W-40 Heavy-Duty Diesel and Marine Oil AME - AMSOIL
I thought you had a 6.7 I been using the T-6 for around 60k in either 15W-40 or 5W-40 which ever is available. I have 130k on my 2013 now and it still purs like a kitten.
You can't go wrong with Rotella. Company I worked for used it in all the work truck's a few had over 350k zero engine failures.
I've run it from time to time in my 7.3 PSD. It's highly regarded in the 7.3 circles. Most of the time I use Delo. I've done the math. I've changed the oil over 80 times in my 7.3 now.
Popular with the Audi 3.0 (B6) folks. This may sound unscientific, but I used it once on my Audi and it seemed to burn off fast. I had to top it off a lot more at the 3500 out of 7000 mile mark of my OC. All my VC and oil pan gaskets are new.
I'm getting ready to drain the T6 15w40 after 5,000 miles and will refill with the same. I'll be sending a sample in for UOA.
I bought this stuff for daughter’s 7.3 First oil change, so nothing to report but it’s pretty highly regarded.
Always used Rotella 15w 40 Dino oil in all of my diesels until I bought this 6.7 Powerstroke. It was gear stuff. Now I have to use 5w40 and I bought the Rotella full synthetic version. I’m not sure what was in the truck before but it quieted the engine down a little. It was already quiet compared to my last four Cummins diesels. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I ran that in my 6.7 for a while because of availability, but started getting a cold idle surge when the temps dropped. Switched back to Motorcraft 5w-40 and all is well again. I didn't notice any difference other than that.
