Given the power to weight ratio we are talking about here, that's actually about what I would have expected for a stockish car.

Interesting how the mag times were practically set in stone by some. 12.48 was better than any of the mags ran the coupe save MM&FF. What was the 60?

Most magazines don't test on ET streets.

not bad...given my experience with my gt500, in stock trim I'd say it's good for at least a 115 trap, after the tune I think she'll go 120 on a good track with less than 2K' d/a.

I was just about to say the same thing. Could he not drive or is it that the vert is just so damn heavy.

i am going to flash the comp back to stock for a few passes...but I can only run 1/8th mile around here...our 1/4 mile track is too dangerous to run on.

Hi guys that was me at the J&P shootout with my grabber orange shelby vert.I just home after an 8 hour drive & left my time slips in the car but here is the basic rundown.Friday I took 6 runs 100% stock right down to the goodyears with a best run of 12.73 @ 115mph with an 2.08 60' ( the other 5 runs were 12.74 12.81 12.94 & a 13.30 1st run. There was a 16mph head wind which didn't help & although the track prep was very good the car broke real loose on the 1-2 shift to the point of hopping about 3-4 times.I tried with & without the traction control which helped a little but still cuase it to spin alot on the shift.I also found that I bumped the rev-limiter in 3rd gear around 5850rpm on the stock tach so I decided to short-shift into 4th.
On saturday I bolted on a set of 27x10.5x16 MT ET streets & ran 12.55,12.48 & then a 12.44 @ 110mph ( I forgot to shut the A/C off) with a best 60' of 1.84 & a 8.01 1/8th mile.It was warmer on sat than friday & there was about the same 16mph headwind.I am sure that with a little more practice & raising the rev-limit she will go 12.2x.

By the way, congrats on the nice Time slip with your new car. Very respectable!
Oh, and Most mustangs since the 80's have a switch that momentarily shuts the AC compressors off at WOT. I would assume the Shelby has one too, but I dont know for sure.

To some of the others in this thread.....
You better believe this guy can drive if he can go 12.48's with a 110 trap!

I don't mean this in a bad way, but the 1.80 60' time can easily be significantly improved on. Time to raise your launch rpm ;-) Every tenth shaved in the 60' is worth ~.15-.2 tenths at the end of the race.
Pretty amazing that heavy vert ran a 115mph trap bone stock.

??? 12.48@110 with ET Streets is NO driving accomplishment in any way shape or form.

I beg to differ..
In a 4,100 pound car it is..

And turning 1.6's with stock gearing and a stock GT500 convertible (based on what we've seen so far) is just not realistic. You simply wont have the tq multiplication off the line to get that much weight moving....

Definately possible with gears.. But its probably a pipe dream without..
