Take Flight
You can take a racetrack ride in a Shelby GT350 this weekend
By Steve Turner

By now you’ve heard how awesome the Shelby GT350 is ripping around a racetrack. The hype is real, but hearing about it is one thing. Experiencing it for yourself is quite another. However, it might be difficult to find someone who owns one that is willing to give you a ride around a track.

Well, if you happen to be near Texas World Speedway, College Station, Texas, this weekend, $40 could get you two laps in the passenger seat.

That opportunity comes by way of a charity fundraiser during the Track Guys’ Second Annual Final Roundup. This high-performance driving event is running at Texas World Speedway from March 11-13, 2016. The charity in question is the Wings for Life, and Ford, BFGoodrich and the Mustang Club of America are supporting it at this event.

“The MCA has teamed up with one of our great sponsors, BFGoodrich to raise money for the Wings for Life Spinal Cord Research Foundation,” Mustang Club of America board member Ed Hockaday said. “We will be selling hot-lap rides in the new GT350.We are doing this during the Track Guys HPDE event this weekend at Texas World Speedway in College Station, Texas. A very special thanks goes out to Jeff Lacina and Dell Hughes from Track Guys for letting us do this.”

In addition to the laps in one of the Shelby GT350s at the track, your donation will also earn you a special goodie backpack filled with Ford memorabilia.

“Ford is supplying a really great goodie bag for those that do the hot laps. This bag is top shelf and has some really nice collector items. Special thanks to Matt Schaller at Ford for that,” Ed added. “All funds raised go to the charity. Donations are also accepted. This will be a lot of fun and a great opportunity to ride in the new GT350 on the track, and support a special charity.”

That special charity provides support to help cure devastating spinal injuries.

“Wings for Life is an international not-for-profit spinal cord research foundation. Our mission is to find a cure for spinal cord injury,” says the charity website. “We fund world-class scientific research and clinical trials around the globe aimed at healing the injured spinal cord.”

So for a small donation you can get two hot laps around Texas World Speedway and a cool goodie bag while helping a worthy charity in the process. Sounds like a great opportunity to us, so if you are near the track this weekend, entry to the track is free and the $40 ride is something you’ll likely never forget.

All of the proceeds for the Shelby GT350 rides this weekend will benefit the Wings for Life Spinal Cord Research Foundation, so you can feel great during and after your hot laps around Texas World Speedway.
