My wife and I were headed to our hometown from Charleston, SC to FT. Walton Beach, Fl. on the 3rd. On 1-10 around Tallahassee a car hydroplaned off into a ditch and struck a tree. We didn't see it but came up on it first. I told my wife to call 911 and to stay put. About the time I got out and started heading towards the SUV another guy had stopped and was running with me. The car was on its driver side. Tree had mangled the car on impact and killed the driver. We couldn't even see or get to him to help. The lady in the car appeared to be ok but was in shock of course and hanging from her seat belt. I checked on my wife's phone call and told her to call them back again to make sure people were on their way. By now 10 guys were there and honestly we couldn't do anything. Nothing worse than feeling helpless. The scene was safe from fire or exploding and flipping the car at this point could only hurt her. They had to use the jaws to get her out and asked us to leave I assume due to the body. It would be a lie to say I was not more concerned about wet roads after that. Happy Fourth of July...right? :/ Man killed on I-10 in Gadsden County after tires lose traction on roadway
