I started the rear end overhaul. It needed some serious love. Some surface rust and alot of dirt and grime. I dropped the IRS and started ordering parts for it. Here is a list of things that are being done.

-FTBR bushing kit
-FTBR tie rods and end links
-FTBR Cross Axial joints
-FTBR rear hubs with 3inch studs
-FTBR 13 inch brake conversion
- Maximum motor sports rear coil overs
- Bilstien b6 shocks
-CHE performance shock tower brace
-Powder coat IRS craddle Comp orange, all control arms silver vein
-Eaton truetrac
-All new bearings/seal/pinion flange/3.73 ring/pinion.
-Ford racing diff cover

I'm also cleaning everything. Everything metal that could come off was powder coated. All the hardware was sent over to be vapor honed and zinc plated. The rear end of this car will be literally brand new.

The only thing I'm not doing is the upgraded axles. I tossed around the idea for a long time and decided against them for now.

that comp orange cradle looks sick as hell! can’t wait to see it all on the car
Thank you!! I'm exited to get it all together. I'll be picking up the differential housing stuffed with all the new stuff tomorrow or the next day. Once I have that I'll start putting it together.

I did forget to take the spindles in when I had everything powder coated, so I'm still waiting on those.

Ryan is coming in clutch with these seats! He’s just sent me these pictures.

I was on the fence with the orange stitching but I think it will look good.

I really like the way you did the valvecover/coilcover combo. I've on the fence with all black and billet coil cover or doing the same as you but in silver.

Why b6 shock over b8? I thought the b8 were the ones to get.

Whenever I bought them b8s were on back order with no projected restock date.

So I looked into the b6. MM said for a street car the b6 is perfect so I went with it.

Gotcha. I have b8 on the back and they are a little stiff.

IIRC, the B8s were recommended if you were doing a more aggressive lowering spring. Been quite some time, though, so I could be full of shit by now. I did the B8s when I fired the race springs in and she rides noticeably stiffer than even my vette. Although that might be a poor comparison since the Z could use a suspension refresh and the Cobra's also got a full FTBR kit and FLSCs in addition to the B8s + springs combo.

This looks great and was a good read. I’m picking up a cobra after being out of it since 2007. Excited for a new project

Thank you! Its hard to make time for the car right now, but its fun to track the progress on it!

Congrats on the cobra! Make sure you post some pictures when you pick it up! What are the details?
