In the other thread I spoke about the SP I have been getting lately and I think I first experienced it back when I was 18 and got it periodically from that point on. I believe it is more spiritual than just your bodies reaction during sleep. If I had to explain what I think happens, it would be that the presence of a spirit puts your body into a shock and paralysis that we know as SP and they take advantage of it. There is a cause and effect but all we have explained is the effect. My belief comes from supernatural experiences that have occurred during SP as well during conscious moments that have almost identical similarities. My good friend and old roommate was having a SP episode a few years back but I didn't know it as his bed was on the other side of the room. I felt the presence of a spirit in the room and I awoke immediately before it could get a hold of me so to say. I sat up and looked over to the door to our room and it was nothing unusual but just pitch black and I knew it was there. I prayed and told it to leave and within a few seconds I felt it leave and I lay back down and see my roommate tossing and turning but I don't say anything and go back to sleep. The next morning my roommate tells me he had a terrifying dream, similar to OP's where he is at a house and there are people there and the mood is great. He goes to the kitchen and looks out the sliding glass door and it is black outside. He opens the door and a tall black figure comes out of the darkness and grabs a hold of him, but he said at that point it all just ended and he woke up. I told him about what I felt and woke up to and we both compared the time that we were up which are times were within minutes of each other, it was like 3:15 or 4:15 or something like that. He was a little freaked out I could tell, and he just sort of went on in disbelief that it happened.
