Any remote tuners out there using HPTuners yet?

Old tuner says he can no longer tune my 2001 cobra with SCT software. But I have the MPVI2 for my 300 so can drop tunes in the Cobra using it.

Why can't he use SCT anymore?

anyone using hptuners to tune an eec probably isnt someone you want tuning your vehicle

the best bet is to toss a moates quarterhorse on it and realtime tune it like a stand alone

If that's the case then he probably didn't think to take the classes. I'd find a different tuner at that point.

Want to utilize the MPVI2 only because I already have it for my Chrysler 300.

Yes the way I understand it SCT reduced functionality.

Do you know if they have to take specific classes per ECU or year? I am sure he is not getting to many EEC-V cars anymore so maybe that is why he didnt do the classes?

It's a pretty simple thing. I did it before and I have access to everything I had access to before the EPA got involved.

shop is busy probably just doesn't want to tune the car, especially since he isn't the original tuner of the car. That guy retired.

so correct me if I'm wrong, but the only difference between hp and moates is the fact that hp you have to log and change parameters after the fact, while moates you can change parameters while driving?

That is a major benefit but what I was getting at is that hptuners does not have sufficient eec datalogging support yet. They are working on it but its not there yet.

No luck finding anyone local so I will try and tune this one myself. HP tuners has sent me alpha firmware for the mpvi2 that is doing better at scanning but still disconnects and reconnects, during this process the rpm gauge goes to zero and dashes appear on mileage.

Hope they will fix it soon. Ill start another thread discussing the tuning.

Why do you say not for this platform? I'am strictly asking to be educated not to start any drama.

I've heard nothing but great things from guys using HP, tuned by Eddie @ Elite performance. I've spoken to several Terminator owners here at the Springs and they swear by it?

i ask cause i am considering switching from SCT to HP when i switch to E85.

You can see my other threads, but the logging is straight garbage. I brought up this issue to hptuners and they told me I was SOL.

I can tune your car via hptuners if you have an ngauge, I just prefer other software.

Edit: I do like hptuners and use it a lot. It just sucks on these cars.

I'm not positive but I don't think you can use ngauge in our cars

Appreciate the info, and offer but i do not have an ngauge. Interesting info though going to have to conduct more research on HP, around here Coyote and Terminator owners make it sound like its the latest and greatest tuning device?

It works, I've done it. Years ago it was the only option, the mvpi wouldn't work. Not sure if that's still the case.

For coyotes its good, hptuners put a lot more effort into the later processors. I suggest hptuners for those over sct.

If you want me to stick your cobra on the dyno and make 3 licks to get it in the ballpark hptuners is fine. That's what elite and all the other dyno shops will do. Does it work? Yes, but it's not great. Most dyno shops only care about about WOT, and that's fine for 95% of their customers and hptuners is sufficient for that. One good thing about the ngauge is I can load it with e85, nitrous, and pump tunes. So if you ever want to change the tune yourself it's a simple flash you can do at the gas station or track.

For fine tuning driveability and idle hptuners is sub-par in my opinion.
