Steve, I'm going to recommend that you browse BobIsTheOilGuy website. It's loaded with all kinds of great oil-related topics. Overkill, honestly, but great info. This specific page there is good reading. It discusses the question, "what brand should I use" and "which oil is best". You might be surprised by the answers. BobIsTheOilGuy is a great oil related website. I highly recommend it. Like I said, you'll find lots of great info, and if you still have a question you can always post it on one of their forums. Spoiler Alert! You're not going to find a specific oil brand recommendation there because everyone has their personal favorite and needs vary. What you choose depends on factors like..... 1. What kind of vehicle you have. 2. What your owner’s manual says — not just viscosity, but certifications (look for acronyms like API SM, ILSAC GF-4, etc.) and change intervals as well. 3. Where you live. 4. How you drive (easy? hard? fast? slow?). 5. What your daily drive is like (short trips? long trips? city? highway?). 6. Whether your car has any known problems (leaks, oil consumption etc). In general, any quality motor oil brand (regular, blend or full synthetic) that meets your vehicle's requirements is a good choice. Regular oil/filter changes are really important. I used to change the oil/filter in my '03 Cobra every 3K miles, religiously. My own personal comments on the three brands you mentioned. Red Line and Royal Purple would be preferred over Mobil 1. Here is some other oil/filter info from my FAQs page that might help you.
