Hello all, my 2003 Mustang GT has a squeak which appears like it is coming from the rear right wheel area. It’s not audible with the windows up. It gets louder when I give it any amount of gas, and it goes away when I press the brakes. My brakes do squeak a little when I press on them, but it’s a different type of squeak. Any help is appreciated.

Have you checked your brake pads?
I’ve checked if they have meat on them, but what would I look for besides that? If it was causing a squeak. I feel like it may be dragging a little as when I spun the wheel it had some resistance, but this is the first car I’ve ever worked on.

I would check the condition of the rotor, pull the pads and inspect them.

Check the dust shield to make sure it's not rubbing on the rotor.

If you don't find anything lube the pads properly and see if that fixes it.

Also if you're running cheap pads they can be noisy.

Alright, sounds good. What kind of lube do I want to use for brakes? Where would I put the lube? What am I looking for in general with inspecting the pads?

Any auto part store will have brake pad grease at the counter generally. You put the lube on the backside of the pad, not the side that touched the rotor. If i were you’d I’d take some brake clean and spray the rotor after I took the caliper off to make sure there’s no dust, or anything on it. Check the pads for uneven wear. They should be shaving down at the same length, if one sided more burned down or anything like that check they were installed correctly.
