When the shifter base has been removed, should the stock grey RTV be cleaned off and new RTV (e.g., black) be applied? Mine has the grey stuff going around it still, not much, just a little bit. Not certain if I should leave it or replace it :shrug:

Order a gasket from CobraBob.
Clean off that RTV, use the gasket instead.
But if you decide to not use his gasket, then yes, clean off the RTV and use a new bead.
