Actually just read the new Motortrend on a flight home and they compared the GT500s against a Z51 C8 at VIR. They directly compared the GT500 and C8 Z51 because that was a "closer comparison," and on the back straight it looks like the GT500 did 166.5 and the vette did 153.6. Not really a shocker there. Said and done, after putting the vette in "track mode" (basically just dialing in more negative camber front and rear) the times were as follows: Figure 8: C8 Z51: 23.3 @ .90g avg GT500: 24.1 @ .85g avg CFTP: 23.5 @ .89g avg VIR 3.3: C8 Z51: 2:00.96 GT500: 1:59.68 CFTP: 1:56.30 C7 Z51 (for context): 2:03.14 Honestly, the base GT500 and C8 are near as makes no difference, I'd personally just call that a tie. Considering the vette has better weight distribution, better suspension geometry, and a hell of a lot less weight, it is pretty impressive to see the GT500 run with it. I personally would have expected the Vette to best the GT500 (and at tighter tracks it probably will) but I don't know that anyone should really be shocked by these results.
