Wife and I went out to dinner the other night. So I go to buy gas at the grocery store, so I can cash in my points on my $0.80 off a gallon. Half way through pumping, the pump starts slowing down and then just stops. Car takes 16 gallons and I'm at 8. Now you only get to use the points all at once, and restarting another transaction would mean I couldn't get the discount.
I go up to the booth, explain what happened, and the attendant (female early 20s) says let me call the store manager and see if we can get your points reloaded. After a few minutes she says we can't reload your points, your card has zero points on it now, but go to a different pump and we will pay you back in cash, the discount you would have had on the first pump.
Ok great, sounds easy enough. Put the nozzle back, and finalize the discounted transaction. Drive to the next pump, put 8 gallons in, I go up to the booth to get my refund.
Gas was $4 a gallon with the $0.80 off. She hands me back $25.60! I pause and said, "That's not right, that's too much!" She insisted that she was right, and that's what the store manager said to do. She said to just take the money. Hmmm...
I said how are you getting to this number? She said the manager told her to take what I SPENT on the 2nd pump and multiply it by 0.80
A few minutes go by as I explain to her the mistake. I said you owe me $6.40
She was embarrassed (maybe misunderstood what the manager said or maybe they did tell her to do that?) and thanked me for being honest. I told her I didn't want her to get in trouble, and I don't take what's not mine. Gen Z![]()
Tell me about it, I have contractors in and out constantly and am chasing bugs around the house until I go to bed.Every damn bug in the known universe decided Winter is on the way, get inside the house.
Started using the Tomcat baits a few years ago, had a mouse family move into our basement/garage during a late winter thaw. Between the baits and snap traps we cleared the house out in one week, confirmed 3 adults and 7 pups. I wasnt worried until I caught the first pup by hand, that confirmed we had a nest inside already and we had a problem.^Watch out for mice too. October is moving season for those ****ers. I have outdoor bait boxes loaded with bromethalin every 20 feet around the perimeter of my house and garage. Haven't had a mouse issue since I started using them 10 years ago.
I just ordered a 75 pack of sticky mouse traps. Hazards of having a heated garage .^Watch out for mice too. October is moving season for those ****ers. That's what I use, Tomcat. They offer two types of poison. Bromethalin costs more but it works and kills on one feeding. Invested $300 into the bait stations 10 years ago, 12 @ $25 a piece, but totally worth it. Kill them before they get in the house. Bait smells like cotton candy and they can't resist it.Started using the Tomcat baits a few years ago, had a mouse family move into our basement/garage during a late winter thaw. I had the Tomcats around and snap traps. We had a bird feeder out back, and the rats must love bird food, as I'd see them around the base of the feeder. They were building a new house on the far back lot that was blocked by the scrub and trees, I think the came from there. They got into my old pool heat pump years ago and destroyed it. I had 4 of those Tomcats around for a couple of years, but my wife was worried about one of the hawks or falcons would eat one of the poisoned rats. I bought these traps at Amazon, and baited them with peanut butter. SOB worked great. We haven't had rats in years. I washed them all, but them in a bag in a garage cabinet.Started using the Tomcat baits a few years ago, had a mouse family move into our basement/garage during a late winter thaw. Those are the type I use as well, have like 20 of them I need to refresh the bait on. Real easy to fling the catch out of them. I picked up 2 of the large rat sized ones but so far the chipmunks have been ignoring them.I had the Tomcats around and snap traps.
