When I first saw this pic, I laughed and said "I remember those!" Then I realized the reason it was posted was to trigger that reaction from people who were around to know what it was for and now it's become clear that I've gotten older. lol Not grown up, just older.
LOL. I pretty much did the same thing when I saw that. I remember my music teacher used one of those in class. I also remember laughing when one of the chalk pieces broke inside the holder, leaving three lines. Yep, I, too...... am just older. ;)

1970 AMC Rebel Machine. The one I most remember and most admired. 390 motor making 340hp and 430tq.

And then there was the 1971 AMC Matador Machine. 360 or 401 motor with up to 330hp. Sales were dismal at under 50 sold. Decent looking car, though.

Took a few seconds..... Then it came back. Thanks for the memories.

I remember my teacher using these on the chalkboard when teaching us penmanship. She probably only used three chalks to make the lines.

Since we’re going old school (pun intended), how about these bad boys??

We had one in the old 2 room country school I went to for grades 1-6, I can still remember the sound and smell of that thing! We had the 5 piece chalk thing too and even a real bronze bell that the teacher rang to call everyone back in from recess.
