Did you shoot any?

Speaking of turkey shoots, have you ever eaten wild turkey, and if so how would you compare the taste to a farm raised turkey?

Its quite a bit different, more dark mear, less meat overall, stronger flavor, but still very tasry

I prefer raised birds but i like wild ones too...i do however hate cleaning them lol

What @Double"O" said! They have a routine. I took these pics just minutes ago at the same creek bottom. I enjoy taking up close game pics.

These are pics in the same area as the Turkey's. Turkey vulture, and a white tailed hawk in flight I snuck up on today. A real camera would do much better.

We have group of about a dozen wild turkeys that live a block away in the woods. I sometimes see then on front lawns feeding, but never on my property. One time a few years ago there was a wild turkey on our church's front lawn, a mile from here. When I went to get the mail, it took flight and flew right into the front (thick) foyer glass windows, about 10' off the ground. These windows were maybe 15' tall and each was about 4' wide. The glass didn't break, but it shook. The turkey fell to the ground, shook it off, and took flight again in the opposite direction. I always find it weird to see them flying, even though it is usually a short distance. They're so big and heavy, and yet they get in the air relatively quickly.

Heard a giant “thud” this morning and went into the backyard. I found a dead pigeon next to the pool and saw this impression on one of our windows. You can actually see the marks from its body and wings. Dumb bird!View attachment 1679986
