I'd like to get opinions on the 1st Gens. General problems, MPG, cost of ownership, experiences etc. I've owed a 2nd Gen for a little while and then picked up a Terminator which I currently have but I have always liked the 1st Gens and I'm thinking of picking one up for my daily driver. I don't commute very far for work and I'm also not planning on modifying the truck since the cobra takes up most of my time and money. What can i expect for under $10,000?

    Cheers!

Hi I am new to this forum. Been meaning to join for a wile now. I been daily driving my 1994 lighting for 5 years now 192k and still a blast to drive!
To answer your questions Keep your foot out of it and you will get about 10mpg city otherwise you will spend a not in gas. you may buy rear tires from time to time.... and I never had to do anything but oil changes and gas. Best car/truck I ever owned hands down. Also I am not easy on my cars at all.

    It's a much tighter cabin than a Gen2.

I may have a white 1994 for sale very soon. Very clean, good miles, under $10k. Send me a PM if you're interested. I'm in Southern Maryland.

I have three of them. The first one was bought in 2005 and now has 204K on the odo with very few items requiring attention. I did have to replace the rear main seal after about 125K and recently had the cab end caps and above the rear wheel lips done, but the truck still gets great compliments as a daily driver.

I got my wife a '95 Red one about five years after that, and it still looks like it came off the showroom floor. It has 145K on it now without any real issues developing on it.

Finally the third one was dropped in my lap last year with 133K on the odo, but it had been driven hard and put away very wet. It's taken me a year to correct all the abuse the truck had seen in its life, but now is getting close to being a presentable truck.

Colorado doesn't use salt on the roads, but the mag chloride did eat the rear tank where the spare tire always made contact with it. I seem to think that when the trucks were made they must have taken special pride in building them because the engines are still performing strong. The transmission is another thing though, each had to be rebuilt at around 120K, but have held up after the rebuild.

Good luck getting a first gen. Hagerty just keeps thinking they're going up in price, and every week someone asks if they can buy one of mine!

These trucks bring so much money now it's insane. I was trying to buy one a few years back in AZ for like $6k but the dude would not send me a video of it running.

    My wife really likes them.
