You should be running a 255/35 20 and a 285/35 20 for the wheel size your running and that is a hair on the big size tire wise. The wheel is in the range for the width but it is on big end Ideal for the rear would be 275/35 so if you wanted to you could take the fronts put them on the rear and sell the rears buy some fronts and you should be good. If you want drag radials on the rear then you'd need to buy those and try and get what you can for the current tires.

Got the 275/35 rears mounted.
The drag tires are on Craigslist

L was on the fence with the red wheels, but I love them now

Glad you got your problem solved. To anybody that is reading I run a 305/35r20 on a 10" wide rear wheel with 48 offset. It fits great w no rubbing no matter how big of a bomb or how hard I'm driving or launching. It did rub the fender liner on the inside of the passenger side because it was sticking out but I took the liner out. I would say you need minimum of 48 offset to make a 305 work.

I realize you already purchased new tires, but I have 315 35 20s on my rear and had the same issue with rubbing. I had a 1.4" drop all around and shortened my bump stops already. I ended up putting my stock springs on for now and new bumpstops until I can find a pair of 1" drop springs in the rear, or if cutting the stock springs would be a resolution as well. I also have a 10" rim on nitto invos and have had zero issues with mounting or sidewall flexing.

Your car looks very clean btw!

Got any pics of the tires from the top down/rear just to see how they fit? I'm going to be getting a 20x10 rear with +40 offset on 1.5" drop springs. Wanna fit the most tire possible and was told 305's would rub.

Did you ever find a fix? I'm new to forum as of today I've got a 2014 mustang gt I want to get 305/35/20s with 255/35/20s on 8.5 and 10 inch wheels they have 35 and 45 offset. I'm wondering if being lowered on 1.5 bmr spring if this works and if there is issues with abs and traction control lights. I haven't tuned my car to be able to mess with abs or anything , Sorry I don't no how to create my own post to ask anyone else. Thanks!

I had small rubbing issues when i had 305/35/20 on NT05 going up hills or backing down a slope. Adjusted my shocks so they wouldn’t rub.

why does everybody want to run a heavy 20" wheel/ and those 20" shoes weigh in like a top tier boxer. Almost all 18" are lighter and if you must increase tire width, I have seen 295's on the rear axle that cleared just fine: now the kicker is the Mustang had Ford racing suspension, almost stock height and the dampers are tuned for the heavier GT500. Go look at the weekend warriors and you will find lot and lots of lightweight 18" wheels and sticky rubber. oB

It’s a convertible. A cruiser. It has shit tons of torque and can easily handle a few extra lbs at each corner.

Coming from Miatas and Mini Coopers, I went lighter then stock wheels.

But I have autocrossed this car a few times with these wheels and they are not holding me back in the slightest
