You mean I should have waited until Fireball Friday to post my picture.

That car has been sitting for years, my friend took it roughly a year ago. The owner was complaining about the costs to build a new engine and told my friend that he couldn’t afford to fix it. That is what happens when you trust an engine builder who thought he could build a motor with a long stroke crankshaft and aluminum rods that couldn’t survive more than a few shake down passes at the mile

Wow, that's insane.

This may be blasphemy around here, but it would almost be more cost effective to do a built 5.0/5.2 and boost it to the moon, versus trying to build a Trinity. Don't get me wrong, I love the engine and I wanted a '13-'14 GT500 specifically because this engine was only a 2-year offering. But if I were to try to make a crap-ton of power, I'd pull the engine and store it.

My goals are fairly tame, though. Really only looking to make 720-730 whp and have a fun street car.

You have to understand that to rebuild this engine requires a new block and possibly a new set of cylinder heads. So he is probably looking at a minimum of $35K to build a replacement engine.

I also understand your comments about pulling the engine and dropping a Coyote in its place to save the GT500 engine or keep from taking the risks of losing the engine to extreme Hp modifications that are extremely expensive to replace in the event of a catastrophic failure.

The problem with the Coyote is you have to buy a certain set of heads and this year block to come up with the right combination to try to bullet proof it. The 5.0 blocks are weak and prone to cracking without doing modifications because of the open deck that become expensive. The 5.2 Predator blocks fixed this but require steel sleeves for big Hp. So these engines at 1100 or higher Hp output become just as expensive to build as a GT500 engine and you have to source the correct parts for the best outcome, whereas you have the best parts in your hands with the cylinder heads on your GT500 engine. So you don't have to try to hunt them down.

Yeah I was going to say that I remembered later today that Kinetik built this car. Also I remembered the 2013 I was thinking about with the guy from NJ that I met at MIR may have never finished that car or something bad happened to the car.
Yep pretty sure the one I remember.
And I’d definitely call you before final KB decisions.

Bitter sweet day today boys. I cleaned the interior for the first time thoroughly since I laid pooch to rest. I couldn’t bring myself to get her dog hairs out. She was always my passenger princess. She made going for cruises worth it. I miss this dog severely even after these 2 months. I’d get grief because I’d let her in my cars. I’d always tell people I got her when I had nothing, she was there for me thru everything whether I had $100 or $100,000 in the bank she was happy to go for rides with me. We grew together and I’ll trade some hairs in my interior for the memories I shared with her anyday of the week.

Priceless memories indeed! Perhaps in the end my friend, she will be there to greet you once again. Its the only thought that gives me peace. I hope I get to see my pooch once again.

It's always difficult when a loved one passes, be they human or animal. I had to put my cat down back in October, that was rough. She would always greet me at the door when I got home from work, telling me about her day. If I sat down, she was in my lap or on my chest. We have other cats, but it's not the same.

The memories will always remain, even if the hairs get cleaned up.

Thanks for sharing some photos as well. I put Brianna down 10/3/24. 2 days after I lost my pops in 2020. Wasn’t an ideal time to say the least. I pray I see her again someday.

I pray that this is true as well my friend. I’d like nothing more than to hold her again.

Unfortunately pets always go before you do. They also very much have their own personalities and find ways to attach themselves to you and you to them.

Sorry for the losses gentleman.

If I remember correctly the car ran in the low 230s before having a head gasket failure. This was like 8 maybe 10 years ago, I can't be a 100% sure if I am remembering correctly that it is one of L & M's, but I'm like 90% sure that it was.

You can give me shout anytime J to talk about the KB options. I was talking to Shawn last night and he said that it is closer than it was. I still think it will be mid-summer before I have the car back to give you good feedback on the current combination.

We were talking about how the Ford Performance Boss 302R ABS module would work with the MoTeC ECU base GT500 programming and how they would interact with each other, along with how the MoTec traction control works and if the programming in this ABS module would interfere or turn off the traction control in the MoTec ECU. He felt that it wouldn't cause any problems and thought for the price of the unit that it was cheap enough to try to see what happened. He feels that the stock ABS module programming is too conservative and is designed to limit liability lawsuits

I'm hoping you get the Shelby back sooner than expected and that the upgrades exceed your expectations. You've been very patient.

Being patient isn't the problem with me, the problem is not having the car in my possession only gives me time to think of what modifications to do next and how to integrate them correctly for the best results.

Talking with Shawn last night he said something about how most manufacturers for the rear axle lower control arms reuse the existing hardware for the front torque boxes and that this causes a problem with excessive movement of the spherical bearing in the torque box mount. As soon as he said this he decided to look at mine while we were talking and guess what he found? The stock encapsulated nuts and bolts..........so guess what I told him to fix. He found it on Manuel's car also with BMR parts. He has found it with everyone's aftermarket rear suspension parts he has seen so far in the S197 platform. He felt the reason the suspension manufacturers are doing this is because to fix it correctly he has to have a custom top hat washer made to fill in the larger diameter hole in the factory torque box, weld it in place. He said that none of them are removing the factory encapsulated nut and don't realize how much larger the diameter of the hole is in the torque box on the inside of the frame, versus the diameter of the bolt being used to bolt the LCA in place. He said he was going to try to text me pictures today of what he described so I'd understand, but I already understood what he was describing because I took the rear axle out myself to install the Wavetrac and new gear set and remembered the encapsulated nut he was talking about with the Cortex pieces in the car already.

So also while it is being modified for one thing you find other thing to fix...........and the wait gets longer. Yet the wait also brings the car closer to a higher standard of handling, safety and completion once you have it. I can be very patient, but my wallet sometimes doesn't appreciate my time to think LOL
