My problem with it is the searches. I know here you have the right to refuse and unless they can bring forth evidence (warrant or dogs) then you're free to go. I know the cops around here hate me for it but I've never let them search my cars.

Well I will feel free to fill you guys in. I live 5 minutes away and me and a Friend started this meet for us and a small group of friends to hang out. Anyways, we always wanted it to get bigger, so it was posted about on Myspace, LS1Tech,SVT,VW and most every forums. Well some how it mades its way to......

Honda-Tech :bash:

For the past month, this car meet turned into a ****in retard rice fest gone mad.
People doing doughnuts in the parking lot, racing up and down the parking lot, just acting like a bunch of retards. It wasn't just hondas, but they were the priority. So for the 5 months we had it, we never had police trouble, then within the past month it got broken up every friday, cops were friendly and nice and warned everyone.

The last week they broke it up, they shut down the parking lot and escorted the cars out and warned some people, if they come back, you will get a ticket or impounded. So then it led to this.

5 Different Police precincts showed up and met at a Toys R Us, (Fontana,Riverside,Moreno Valley,Baldwin Park, etc.) and then rolled to Hooters. They blocked off the exits and had undercover cops, close down Hooters so only the people that were inside could be inside. They called it a "Special Event".

Then they forced everyone out onto the street, blocking off most the road, and into single files the cars went, getting ticketed, reffed, or towed and they had a mobile smog machine.

Even if you didn't get busted while at Hooters, and you were driving by, if you car looked or sounded modded, they through you into the line.

Sorry for the long post.

Luckily me and most of or friends caught draft of the raid, and were able to avoid this.

thats nuts, the meets we have in some parts of jersey can get quite huge sometimes, sometimes only 50-100 cars, sometimes 150-250 depending on the night

Yeah that meet had anywhere between 100-300 cars @ a time. It was massive, but once things get so big, you can't control them and shit gets out of hand.

However, I think it was deserved for the ricers, I feel bad that "Innocent" people got caught up in the mix. Also Racing in this part of town is one of the least worries, yet they managed to spend 500K$ on this operation, instead of repairing the HORRIBLE freeways, or doing something about drugs or violence.

They should have broke it up, but taking SWAT, and 150 police cars was very excessive, I don't know if the 150 cop cars includes the undercovers either.

the attorneys should have a hay day with this one. no search warrants, this took place on "private property" (a mall parking lot). false accusation "for being involved with street racing" but having no proof to add merit to such claims.

sounds like the Police Dept is about to take it up the old bingo hole.

serves the pigs right too if it happens.

I am not an attorney or anything, but I don't know if it will work like that. One because it isn't private property, it is shared property of Hooters, and John Incredible Pizza, a family place like Chuck-E-Cheese.

So with Kids in proximity parents getting pissed, witnessing the burnouts and public endangerment, also Johns Pizza owner saying they have no permission, and Hooters taking back the permission, for us to be there.

Kind of leaves people S.O.L.

Holes in your post. Lets pick them.

Searching the cars: IIRC probable cause (that may not be the correct use of the term) Is all that was needed. You can visually see a modified exhaust(on imports anyway). From that point its pretty much a go. Doesn't take much. Sure you could refuse to have them search. But what does that do for you? Make your night longer.

Private property: As long as the officers have permission by the owner of the property to be there, they're within guidlines. In an operation as such, that normally isn't a problem.

The street racing: It was never actually said they were street racing. I know stupid technicalities. The idea was put out there. BUt no solid statements.

and besides who the hell really cares if you have mods. it's a damn hobby that many enjoy. do I pass emmissions here in CT ? YES, do I streetrace my car ? NO
