Thanks mustangmike02 !

That is my 3 year old boxer, Duke. The shot is a first attempt at using strobes. (strobist.com- awesome site, very informative) I'm looking to get some car shots soon probably tonight when I pick up my truck from the body shop. :-D

I noticed I didn't put up my camera info... Nikon D200, 12-24mm sigma lens, 70-300mm nikon lens, 2- sb24 nikon speedlights, and 1- sb600 speedlight. Plus multiple other goodies, just purchased a few weeks ago...

Besides the lens flare on the left, awesome pic man.

kansascityGT- I know, the flare ticked me off, but I should have blocked it off a little better. It was actually worse than it is there, I just tried to make it look like some smoke, using ps, turned out okay.

Thanks for the props though!

I took this at Jennings GP in Jennings, FL last month. It's panned at 1/160th.

I finally went out and bought a Nikon D40 today. I don't have a clue on how to take great pictures. I've only gone through the instruction manual. Can someone suggest some books on the subject?

My first couple pics with my Nikon D40. I have no idea what I'm doing but I guess that's all part of the learning process

Here's a pair from a closed street cruise in Lethbridge, Alberta.

Completely new to DLSR's so I used the sports/motion auto setting on the Nikon D60, had a Nikon DX 18-135mm lens. I was doing multi-burst shuttering and selecting the best 1 of the 3-4 pics of each car.

Thoughts for specific improvements?

Thanks man. Greatly appreciated. As for the camera....neither. lol. I shoot with a Sony A200. People always seem real surprised when I tell them that. As for lenses, the ones above were shot with the 18-70 kit lens and a 75-300. I also have a 50mm f/1.7 and am working on getting a Sigma APO HSM 70-200 f/2.8.
