Last Mustang I owned was a Mineral Gray 2002 Premium GT and got rid of it around 2004/2005 before my 3rd winter. Last weekend we sealed the deal on a 2001 Mineral Gray Cobra Convertible out of state. I'll be sure to share photos when I pick it up.

It's mint and does have several bolt-ons.

JLT Carbon Fiber Air Intake

Short Throw Shifter

373 Gearing

Steeda Underdrive Pullies

Steeda Stainless Steel X-Pipe Exhaust

SCT X3 Power Flash Custom Tuner

New Top was installed in 2016

New Top Lifters Installed 2020

Before driving 300 miles home anything I should be aware of? Wife will be joining me and most likely driving some of the drive home.

It does have 60,000 miles on it so wondering what I might have looked at when I return home.

Also I'm wondering if I should look to add some strut tower supports to stiffen up the ride. Guess I should just pick it up and determine what I need if anything.

It will be a nice upgrade from the GT. Good mods added, exactly what I did on my 2001 Cobra. Probably low 300-315HP. Gears are a great mod for these cars, they really need a six speed to go with the higher gear change but it's not that bad.

300 miles shouldn't be an issue if it's good shape. I would do subframe connectors before the strut tower brace. And not the stock bolt in sub frame connectors. Get a good weld in set.
I was just going to recommend the sub-frame connectors. Something that convertibles really need.

Congratulations on buying that 2001 Cobra. The ride home should be fun.

Congratulations on finding that pristine '01 Cobra. Looks like the previous owner took really good care of it judging by his photos. That is one CLEAN engine bay.

On a side note, that is one packed garage!

Yes. Working on that. Ha ha. It was super full and was forced to rent a storage shed in order to make room to pick it up.

Totally agree on subframe connectors. At least get just the full length subframe connectors from maximum motorsports or stifflers. FYI. They have to be welded with the cars weight on all four wheels, not while on a post style lift otherwise the body is twisted from being on the lift and then the subframes make that distortion permanent. Any shop that works on our year mustangs will already know this.

connectors made a HUGE difference in cowl shake and overall stiffness on my car even in everyday driving.

Good post @01vert. And good advice as far as ensuring the installer knows the correct way to do it on these cars.
