Agreed. Black roof I think really offsets certain colors and adds to the aesthetic appeal. Personally, I LOVE the Twister Orange, but I don't think I would have went with it if black roof wasn't an option. It's TOO much without it. The roof matching the wheels, spoiler and hood make it.

Quite possibly the prettiest Shelby I have ever seen. Would def rock the new Orange if it was in my cards now.

Well done sir!

The "black" roof started with the glass roof option back in 2010 as I recall. Painted roofs first appeared on the 2012 Boss 302. I don't recall it being on any other models until 2015+ when it became an option across the entire line. I've always felt it was to mimic the glass roof look.

Black roof make it look lower, here is Red and Black roof, also the Kona Blue and Black, hard to see in pictures but matches mirrors, grill and insert. Look very good in person.

This is the exact colour combo I am thinking of ordering, this or twisted orange with black roof. I like the stripes but don’t want the vinyl and don’t want to spend the money for painted stripes, so will order w/o stripes
painted stripes makes it a golden ticket car right?

I'm sorry, I just couldn't help myself

There ya go! THIS is why it's offered. That top is stunning with the orange paint!

How much is the black roof option? Oops, just saw Nick's post. $695.

I'm curious as to why Ford offers the painted black roof. Is there some sort of history on this option?
The black-painted roof goes along with the black wheels. I don't understand it either. I grew up in the era of vinyl roofs on all the muscle cars. I would rather have the roof the same color as the rest of the car. Stripes don't bother me, as that is part of the Shelby heritage. Glad mine has the stripes... and no black roof.

I've always preferred stripes on the GT500s until the MY20+. With the huge heat extractor on the hood, the painted black front bumper cover, and the rear wing...it doesn't leave much room for stripes.

That is true, Nick, but there are still quite a few customers who do want stripes.

I always had stripes on my previous Shelby's. With all the other black accents on the car I think the black roof just compliments them better, not to mention the stripes are poorly done on these cars.
