These came in while I was away at school. These look damn good. Welds and coating look great. Nice thick flanges. I may have to take 5 min and a die grinder to two of the ports and grind about an 1/8" of a weld that is protruding into the ports but thats about it. These should be going in in the next couple of weeks. Cant beat these for less than $550 ceramic coated shipped with x-pipe. They are 1 5/8" primaries with 3" collector.

Cant wait to get them installed.

I had Pacesetter Longtubes on my 96 Trans Am and would give them a 10/10. I heard of a couple guys putting them on Terminators, but no reviews, definitely keep us posted. Right now I'm going with Macs so I'm curious to see how these are.

Those are some nice looking headers... Are those 50 state legal? Where did you purchase these from.

I also had a set on a 96 Z28 about 12 years ago. They fit well and the SOTP increase was awesome. Thats why I had no problems buying a set of these, and the best part is they are made in USA. I dont know why more guys dont look at these for a lower priced header, I think these are the cheapest of all, hell I think the plain painted ones are like $269-ish.

There was a guy on mod fords who put a set on his hi-hp 3.4 whipple car and got 70 rwhp. I am not expecting near that on my combo, but we will see what we get. My car is in for a headgasket change and these will go in.

I got them from Lethal, you just have to get in touch with them and special order them as they dont really stock them. I see them all the time on the bay' but I would rather give my money to a sponsor and Lethal has been good to me. It also took about a month for them to get in as Pacesetter had to send them out to the coaters. I dont have pics of it, but the x-pipe looks great also, although its not coated.

I dont believe they are 50-state carb legal, but they do have all the emissions and smog hook ups. Inside the hardware box there was a couple of fittings, but I didnt look too closely to see what they were for.

If you have any more questions, let me know.

Jeff

Those look nice.

Are they the part # 72C3229 that is specific to the 96-99 model?

I am sometimes leary about the flanges from 96-01 being used on the more rectangular 03+ 4V heads....as I have had issues with that in the past.

Got any links to people who have used them with success??

Can you provide us with pictures of the stock head gaskets laid over the ports, to see how well the ports line up? That would be very helpful.

Thanks !

I looked in the catalog and they say they are for 96-04. The 72C3229 is the coated part number for 70-3229 that I have. Looks like in the part catalog they only have one part number that covers all 96-04. If they are the wrong flanges I will definatley send them back for the right ones. I have never heard of that before. But I guess if the opening on the headers is larger than the opening on the heads they should be o.k. This guy in the link got 60 RWHP from them...

What are your experiences with the other flanges?

Here is the post that helped sell me on them: Pacesetter header review

I am kind of laid up a bit at the moment, I will see what I can do about the stock exhaust gasket.

JUST bought a full mac setup from lethal for a bit over 900 bones. Every one of my LS buddies run these on their cars with great results. If only I would have known about these. :bash:

I think a set of these with the JetHot 2000 coating would be perfect. My car had BBKs on it when I bought it. If they ever need replacing I will go with these Pacesetters.

Pacesetter lables them as Armorcoat. But I have heard that Jet-Hot is 15 min away from Pacesetter, and when I called Pacesetter to ask about the shipment he said they were on the truck coming back from the coaters. I am not saying that it is Jet Hot that does thier coating but it would be convienient for Pacesetter being that they are so close.

I have had Armorcoated headers on an old LT1 F-body and they lasted a good few years. These are cheap enough to buy a new set every 5 years or so if they go to hell.

I think the uncoated, painted versions are about $269-ish.

Gasket is a perfect fit. I do have to do a few minutes of grinding to some of the welds and clean them up as they protrude into the ports in some places.

Pic was taken via a cell phone. This was a used gasket and I am holding the top port lined up. I am relieved now as you had me wondering about the different ports and heads.

I thought I read somewhere on a thread a few months back hear that the oem gasket was the way to go when it came down to header swaps, I might be mistaken though.

The exhaust ports (in the heads) are smaller than the gaskets; there won't be any problems. I've run early headers on 03/04 heads on my cars and have installed them many others, no need to worry.

Yea thats what I was thinking, as long as the ports on the heads are smaller than the header flange all is well.

I cant wait to get these babies in!

I knew they were right down the street from each other. I bet you Jethot coats them with their 1300 coat. Pacesetter just calls it something fancy. LOL.

Reason I said I would like the 2000 coating is to prevent flaking. I ran the 2000 coat on my single turbo Supra RPS header for 4 years. Not one single flake with it after 40k miles of abuse. The 1300 chrome look coating can flake under higher heat. I know our cars don't generate as much heat as a turbo car but they still generate more heat than a NA motor. Forced Induction just makes higher exhaust heat.
