OIl Pan Off - Inspect Rod / Crank Bearings?

I am pulling my oil pan to fix a leak. While I have it off, it is the perfect opportunity to inspect the bottom end. Only problem for me is that with everything assembled, I am not really sure how to really gauge the health of rod bearings or crank bearings.

Are there any visual ques that I can look for? The motor has about 160K on it but no knocks, no smoke, nothing out of the ordinary.

Let me know your thoughts.

Dont touch them unless you have oil pressure issues or bearing material in the filter. Leave it alone. Seal it up and leave the rods alone.

Yes. I did not intend to remove the caps. I was just wondering if there are any visual indicators to look for now given that it’s while assembled.

If it’s still open.

Oil pickup tube.

In here I found a lot of junk

And at oil cooler end was more.

Timing chain guide and silicone chunks

This was at 120k.

Ford was into it at 60k. Did head over fender

Look over the manual

It has key spots to put silicone so you don’t have leaks

Your oil pressure at hot idle will tell you everything you need to know about your bearings.

Do a visual for obvious damage and debris but don't disassemble anything
