I get the worry about automation. I get wanting raises, but there's some unrealistic wants in there that would speed up the automation process.

Unless you are willing to artificially prop up an industry (i.e. socialism), progress in inevitable. These union shops foment fear and anger and simply refuse to evolve.

I flew out of Florida Monday and saw a line of massive ships in the gulf due to this, was wild. First thought it was a stockpile of military boats on exercises or something, but read about this when i landed.

Not to take this dbags side, but interesting that over 80% of our ports are owned and operated by foreigners. We are such a stupid people.
Not we. There is a great deal of stupid people in the government and business though.

Ever look into working or buying property in china? Out here, our government doesn't care. Infrastructure owned by foreign individuals?

Or farm workers versus machinery. In 1913 we had about 13.5 million farm workers. In 2005 we had around 3 million, and we produce a hell of a lot more food now and at a better price even counting for inflation.

The list goes on and on.

What they should have done is fire them all and start taking new hires at 5.00 less an hour than they were getting. Boeing did that once upon a time. Isn't practical with the work load but no company should be held hostage to insane demands.
