Raised service from 29 per year to over a $100. Damn the money grubbers. Does anyone have any viable alternatives?

I am sure that you can do some research and find the other highly rated providers that you might want to try.

My own personal opinion is, save the money. I myself have not ran an additional firewall/anti-virus other than what comes with Windows 10 for free, for years and I have never ran into an issue. Be careful what websites you visit, don't click on suspicious links/emails, don't install suspicious software, etc.

It's a mystery to me why anyone with a single PC would use anything other than the native security suite that Microsoft installs with Windows 10. MS runs a massive security operation to protect its own assets and the corporate clients that rely on their cloud and other technology, and all that technology boils down into the stuff running on your PC (provided you keep it up to date on Windows Update). There are a few security products out there that are as good as MS, but very few that might be better.

Call their customer service and tell them you're canceling it because it's too expensive and they'll drop the price significantly. I do it every year with Norton 360.

I use Avast Security on my MacBook Pro. It's free. On my Windows 10 PC, I use BitDefender. It was inexpensive but I'm going to consider the advice above and use the native MS security protection.

One thing that I don't like about BitDefender is that it alerts me that a file or site is malicious when it isn't. Sometimes won't allow an app update when the update is 100% fine. Another reason I probably will go with MS and make my life simpler.

I have never subscribed or paid for any anti-virus software and I've never had a virus.

Don't click stupid links.
Don't visit shady sites
Stop looking at porn.

It's kinda like you don't get in your car and drive down the most dangerous streets or neighborhoods.

Same with your computer.

Kaspersky all day long. You can protect multiple devices. I buy them in 3 year packages. You can shop around for deals but last time it auto renewed and I just let if go. I'm a SVT billionaire remember and don't waste my time over a few hundred fiat dollars!?

I don’t run anything else at home but we’ve been very happy with Eset at work. No idea on cost though

I own a managed services firm with almost 1,000 workstations under our management and we only run Windows 10 Defender..... third party antivirus 'solutions' often cause more problems than they solve.

This, plus it's light weight and doesn't bring your PC to a crawl. Ditch that Norton for a day and see how much more snappy it is.

BitDefender is gone! I uninstalled it this morning on my Windows PCs (work and office). I'm now using Defender. No more issue now with BitDefender blocking my access to PayPal warning me that the site (PayPal login) is a Phishing site. I called PayPal this morning and verified that the URL was indeed a PayPal login URL. I've had other false positives with BD in the past. It's gotten heavily sensitive over the past couple of years.
