I’ve been in the process of turboing my 2v for about the past 2 years.. got into diesels and just now coming back to the car.

It’s been about 4 months since I last moved the car and I finally made time to pull the pan and weld the oil return in. Redid my filter relocation while i was at it. Got everything back together, add oil, and go to prime the turbo feed.. nothing. Searched online, saw posts saying the starter won’t spin fast enough to pump it through.. start the car still nothing. No reading on the dash dummy gauge either. So I loosen the oil filter and it had filled, but still no life from the dash gauge. Found other posts about using a garden sprayer to prime the pump so I pumped all 6qts though the feed port, added some oil to the turbo, and capped the feed line on the filter housing to ensure no pressure leaks and still nothing from the gauge.

So after all of this I assume the sender is bad.. replaced that, no luck.. has to be the gauge.. Ground out the sender wire and the gauge works.

Has anyone experience this before?. I’ve ran it maybe 5mins trying to figure it out and the engine doesn’t sound like it’s starving for oil. Any help would be appreciated.

Feed and return lines get mixed up on the relocate kit?

I would want to get a mechanical oil pressure test gauge on it so you can see for sure what is going on.

I double checked them, but I’ll recheck to be sure tomorrow

    I’ll order one tonight.

Is there a way for the oil pump to fail from sitting?

The only way the pump would fail from sitting is if it gummed / glued itself with dried oil sludge.

ive seen engines run an aweful long time with no oil pressure so dont mistake no noise for having pressure

only way to know is an oil pres gauge

does the oil go up the dipstick after its run?

Thanks guys. Thinking things over i was trying to cheat when removing the oil pan and lowered the k member while removing as few things as possible. While picking up on the engine the pan cleared and fell out sooner than expected lol I’m thinking the pan bumped the pickup tube on the way out so while I’m waiting for the gauge to arrive I may pull the pan again and make sure the tube is seated and check its clearance.

I will also see if the oil goes up the dipstick first ^

Pickup seemed fine. Oil had made it to be turbo return. Judging by the pan being filled with metal I don’t think it made it to the heads. Found another thread were Teflon tape from oil relocation kit fittings had clogged the oil restrictors in the heads. Only thing I can think of.

This car just wasn’t meant to make it to mustang week lol
