A bad rod bearing is my guess, and now I’m getting the block bored, forged pistons and connecting rods, and hopefully have the crank honed. If the crank is bad, I guess I’ll stroke it. I’m going to bump up the compression a bit as well to have a decent NA car. Long story short, I’ve learned way more about the 32 valve in two months than I ever intended to, and spent way more than I planned as well. Shoulda just spent the dough on a termi or a coyote, huh?
Hey guys, I’m in Paulding/Cobb county Georgia. Bought a 2001 Cobra about 2 months ago. I’ve had a couple stangs(98 GT vert & 01 KB Bullitt), but this is my first cobra. I’ve enjoyed the car, and got it stock except for the SLP’s, but it’s been a serious love/hate relationship. I came to hate the stereo after a day or two, so i replaced it all in the first week. I replaced the pads and rotors, changed the oil and then it began to run hotter than normal(220). Turned out just to be a bad radiator cap and I flushed the system and changed thermostat while i diagnosed the problem. A month goes by, and the car shoots a plug. I debated how to fix this when I figured i’d let someone else fix it this time(done it on an F-150, no fun) and install LT headers, x pipe, CAI and tune it on the dyno. Car gets put back together after the 17 year old motor mounts and heater hose break while installing the headers, but before it’s put on a dyno there’s now a noise in the bottom end that goes away when you pull the coil off of cylinder 8. Haha.
