This is truly a difficult post to make but it needs to be made nonetheless. Hopefully those of you that have interacted with me personally, know I try my best to be a humble guy. That means accepting the ugly just as graciously as all the praise you guys offer up (so much appreciation for that btw!). Today was supposed to be an incredibly exciting one. The dyno was scheduled for tomorrow so we were going over finishing touches to prepare. Heck, I was even giving the car a little polish so it looked good in the videos. Well, something took a very tough turn. The Holley was showing zero oil pressure when the car idled for about 120 seconds at 900 rpm. Mark and I thought it had to be a sensor or a simple wiring/continuity issue. Turned out to be that the Holley was reading correctly, somehow the motor never had oil pressure (the motor had been run before and had oil pressure prior to us swapping the pump gears and pan so we never once thought it was possible that the gauge was correct). Long story short, the engine locked. We still have no idea why. The oil lines weren’t crossed, the gears were installed correctly, the clearance from pickup to pan was correct. Motor never made a peep. We just don’t know. What we do know is, a massive amount of time, work and money invested in a new longblock is gone. The motor has to come back out. The extent of the damage is unknown. Bearings are certainly in order but beyond that it could be mild or incredibly devastating. All of that said to say this, I’m very VERY heartbroken. I wish I had someone to blame for this but it’s clearly something we overlooked and when that happens you have to man up and accept it. Being a vet, on Memorial Day, as much as I want to sulk....it’s just money. It’s just a car. It’s just material possessions. It’s all replaceable. In mechanics, things fail. Sometimes due to part, sometimes due to the mechanic themselves. I refuse to be broken by something so trivial when families and individuals are suffering in real ways. That doesn’t mean I can’t be truly bummed right now, and I am. So, I’m not quitting on this. My twin would ask me “what else can you do accept pull it back apart and do it again? Get to work”. So that’s what I’m going to do Sorry guys Sent from my iPhone using the svtperformance.com mobile app
