You guys gotta see this...While the paint job on this car overall is fairly nice (really just needs cut/buffed). There were obvious shortcuts that I’m now in the stage of correcting before the car is re-assembled. First I painted the mirrors the proper trim black. Now I’m addressing the remaining issues I can find that will prevent the car from being a show winner. 1) the roof had a serious wave in it as if something heavy had been dropped on it. It was clear there was at least “some” filler 2) the body moldings we’re not removed when painted so dried paint/clear were filling some of the cracks above the molding and drove me nuts 3) the door handles needed to be painted proper trim black color as well. Soooo, my good friends at the body shop began getting after the roof...and THIS is what they uncovered Yes, that’s not “some” filler...that would be 3/4” of mud. The wave in the roof was being caused by the sheer weight of the bondo. I’ve seen a lot of shoddy work in my day but that is ummm....something So after working the metal from inside the car they got everything back into form and back to being perfectly smooth with very little filler. The rest of the body is straight and clean. Old moldings were removed and New door moldings are being painted and installed properly...off the car
