Hi all.
Not new to Mustangs, but this is my first Cobra.
I've had a 66 coupe for ~25 years, along with a few other Mustangs here and there.
I was first introduced to Cobras back in 03 when my buddy got a 96 laser red coupe. Same buddy later got an 04 screaming yellow Mach 1, and I've been wanting a 4.6 4v ever since.
Picked up this 99 Cobra last month. Needs a little paint/body work, but is pretty solid overall.

Not bad, looks like it already has some minor mods. I see an intake, CC plates and 03-04 wheels.
I did the intake right after I got it.
It's lowered with MM CC plates, 17x9/10.5 SVE wheels, and it had an o/r x-pipe with Borla S-Type cat back. I put on an H-pipe with Flowmasters as I like that sound better.
I also believe it has 3.55 gears, but I've yet to verify. PO knows nothing about cars and didn't know what had been done to it.

I do plan on doing machined 03 Cobra wheels if they ever get back in stock.
I'm presently rebuilding the front suspension, brakes all the way around, installing Stifflers jacking rails, and prepping for paint.

It's kind of snow-balling a bit with "might as well do this while it's apart..." lol

Welcome to SVTPerformance! That's a nice '66 Mustang that you've had for 25 years. The old original Mustangs are more crude, of course, but cool to experience and drive. The new '99 Cobra will be another fun driver, and one you can improve and mod, and up the fun factor. (y)

Welcome to Svtp and congrats on the 4v. They're awesome.

Word of caution about that top clamp on the intake tube at the throttle body. It's worth checking for clearance with the throttle cable by pulling it wide open by hand and making sure it can't get hung up on the clamp's adjustment screw when you let off the throttle. It's happened in the past. Rotating the clamp some can clearance it and prevent an "Oh Shit" moment if need be.

This may not be the best place to ask, but is there a way to check to see if "the fix" for the horsepower issues was performed?
And more importantly, is there a way to see if the rear IRS knuckle recall was performed?

I'm guessing I could try to call a dealership? Just not sure if they'll be able to tell me anything.
ETA: I found the PDF from Maximum Motorsports showing the differences between the rear IRS knuckle/spindle at the cross-axis joint. So I'll check mine to see what I have.

Haven’t thought of the ‘fix’ in a while but I enjoyed my ‘01 Cobra.
I’m not sure how far they go but I’d stop at a dealership with the VIN and see if you can get lucky.
The ‘99 fix was an extrude honed ported intake and I’m guessing most got it done.
