I have been on the SVT forum for several years and have an 03 Cobra. For years I have always wanted a Lightning but found it a little impratical, plus Lightning's were hard to find.

My daughter moved home from NYC and needed a car and the rest is history. I gave her my DD and went looking for a truck. I was actually looking for a clean used F-150 and ran across this little jewel while out truck shopping.

It is a black 04, one owner, with 50k on the clock. Extremely clean and well taken care of. Spoke with the owner, he is my age, 60, it was garage kept and never modded, unbelieveable. I got it for 17k. I will post some picks when I get it home on Monday.

I have a lot of questions but will read through the forum first. My only question right now is, do Lightnings have any quirks and since it has 50k, are there any maintenance issues to pay attention to.

Thanks

Congrats! I just bought a VR00L, man I love this truck, the low end torque off the line is spectacular.

I'm not in the position to give advice though, I just don't know enough yet. However, I am finding out the truck has the capability to haul things around and run a 12 second quarter mile.

Have fun.

a few quirks that come to the top of my head are:
AC blower motor
AC blower motor resistor
Intercooler pump
tires, tires, tires
lower intake vacuum/pcv hose
plugs
brake pads/rotor resurface
repaint small parts of dash
battery
EGR, EGR switch and MAF cleanings
Exhaust manifold gasket
headlight bulbs
fog lights
ball joints
routine maitenance - oil/trans oil/coolant/ps fluid/brake fluid/lube jobs
one lash adjuster :dw: (probably from running 10w-30 oil)

Stuff I did that wasnt really needed
new coil packs
cleaning the intercooler itself
one of the exhaust gaskets

and probably some other stuff I am not remembering
its worth it - have fun :)

I really wouldnt say that is a list of quirks.

I've had 2 L's and have had none of those problems. IC pumps can fail, do a search and you can read about it. Plugs are time consuming the first few times you change them, but you get used to it.
Other than routine maintenance, the trucks are very reliable.
