I just picked up an 03 cobra. I know it has BBK long tubes and some exhaust shop setup after that. It also has a tri-ax shifter and aftermarket replica chrome wheels. The supercharger has an almost purple colored pulley and there is an added idler right below the supercharger. Does anyone know what pulley it is so I can figure out the size? The belt is an 8 rib 78.5" belt if that helps. The car misses pretty bad under load over 2500 rpms and smooths out at 3250 when accelerating and I think the previous owner pulled a tune before trading, so before I can tune I need to figure out to figure out this pulley. Thanks for any help.
Can’t say I’ve ever seen that pulley. I never had an Eaton but if you measure that pulley, someone here should be able to chime in on what to expect for boost. Stock lower? Ported or not? First question is if you are going to remote tune or take it to a shop. Sent from my iPhone using svtperformance.com
Pull the belt off and measure the width across the top of the ribs. The brand of pulley doesn't really matter. The amount of boost does as you need to make sure you have enough fuel for it. I would pull the plugs and make sure they're good. Chances are the miss is still there about 3200, you just don't feel it.
I was planning on buying a tuner and getting a remote tune. No tuners near me. I haven't ID'd the lower pulley yet
Should I measure across the pulley ribs? Wouldn't that just be for the width of the belt? And when I say miss, I mean it completely falls apart, backfiring, now power, and once it gets the RPMs up it has full power again. It feels like it's either dropping spark or losing fuel. I am going to pull the plugs and see how they are.
Pull the belt off and get a digital micrometer and measure the pulley that way, it will give you the most accurate reading. Digital Caliper H-7352 - Uline It might be worth just buying a new 2.8 pulley so there's no guessing games.
No, measure across the diameter as 2011 said. It sounds like there are some other problems going on. I would still pull the plugs and check them. Along with checking filters and such.
I can assume that it was tuned and then the tuner was unmarried and the ECM returned to stock, but I can't know for sure. Unless the factory boost gauge is messed up it is making way more than 10lbs of boost. At 50mph just part throttle pegs the boost gauge. The car also has a fenderwell cone filter setup that is kind of janky so I will have to address that as well. I am hoping the plugs will tell me something, but I also have access to a variety of scanners that can read and record live data so I will try that as well. Just going off my gut feeling, it is losing something in the middle of the RPM range and full throttle. But my main goal now is to identify all the parts that on the car so I can have a better chance of diagnosing everything. Thanks for all the help!
Looks like a steeda pulley to me. Again, measure the pulley diameter where the belt goes. Same with lower.
Hmm running a aftermarket lower? That's what it looks like. Sent from my Moto E (4) Plus using the svtperformance.com mobile app
Could be, the aluminum looking bracket looks different to me. Now I have to go in the garage and look. Sent from my Moto E (4) Plus using the svtperformance.com mobile app
The aluminum bracket says Metco on it, and I thought the bottom middle was the crank pulley, or is that behind that one? Sent from my SM-N975U using the svtperformance.com mobile app
Look at the aluminum bracket behind the idler pulley. That's NOT stock. It actually says metco if you zoom in. Sent from my Moto E (4) Plus using the svtperformance.com mobile app
Thanks, now I can tell the wife I got something right today, lol... Sent from my Moto E (4) Plus using the svtperformance.com mobile app
