Well excited about moving forward with my new BOSS 5.0 Stroker build.
Got My rings filed fitted to all the cylinders. Sooo short block is done.
Now for that long tedious process of camshaft degree on 4 custom ground comp blower cams.
Finally got my cometic head gaskets in last week
(They are the only co. that makes head gaskets for the Boss block) Soo I should have the long block done soon...

I have a feeling this thread is not going to help me restraining from building my Boss set up.

What are the plans/specs?
Go for the Boss build!!!
Here you go:
VMP 2.65 gen3R
1200 FIC injectors
Return fuel syst 465 walbro with controller for street cruising
kooks LT 3-inch flow master exhaust
Custom ground Comp exhaust Cams
MMR 4.75 Stroker kit about 5.1 liters with the Boss 5.0 block.
billet oil pump gears
Stock compression with 3.0 upper and 4# lower should put me somewhere in the 22-23# of boost.
3.91 gears should make for a lot of fun on the street with this motor combo.
I have spent most of my day dialing in the cams... Bit of a PITA Tho LOL but I'm sure it will be worth the effort...
Drink of choice E85
Looking for 700 plus to the tires...

I think the 700 mark would be really low for your set up. I was around that with my old Boss set up with an F1A on pump gas. I've thought about ditching the stroker crank and making it a 302 just because.

Dude you'll be at 700 wheel on like 16 degrees timing at that boost level on E. I bet closer to 850 once dialed in at 20-23 degrees.

Curious why you stayed at stock compression if on E?.....9.5:1 is still very friendly on pump 93 with the right tune as long as you keep boost levels in check.

Why did you stay only 9:0?

Curious on the cams as well. Only custom on the exhaust? Never run across that before but love to hear the thoughts.

You should be into the 800s

23psi on E85 is 700+ on an unopened 4v 4.6

Lots of good questions, that's what I love about this forum. Most everyone here is Savvy on these hot rods.

As for stock compression the previous owner builds the combo for higher boost, my guess is he was shooting for max boost, he was running Pro charger F1A cog belt race setup but snap the crankshaft snout with low miles on his build.
Thats when I bought the Cobra.
After carful inspection of the motor all that was needed was a new crank kit. new piston rings hone the cylinder and a good valve job.
Soo Keeping the cost down on the new build I stayed with the pistons I had.

My last build was 5.0 stroker kit with 10.1 CP ratio cams LT and all the good stuff
2.3 VMP 16# boost 16-degree timing and made right at 670w HP on 93 pump

I'm sure the VMP 2.65R blower will make up for stock CP ratio...@23# of boost and live well in the HOT Florida sun LOL...

As for the cams I called comp cams gave them the numbers off the cams to get the spec I needed to degree them in properly, Thats when they told me that the intake cams are of the shelf blower cams but the exhaust where custom.
I don't claim to be cam guy but was told the custom exhaust grind help in removing heat off the top off the pistons. Hmm.

Based on everyone's input looks like I will not be disappointed in the HP department. I would love to see 800 plus...HP
Thanks for all your input.

Gota have the fuel system to feed the beast.
Let me say this WHAT A PITA!!! getting that fuel hat with 3 pumps to fit and get the fuel sender to read correctly. But I got it.
I went with 465 pumps third pump on a Hobbs switch. Also replaced all the fuel lines with PTEF for the E... Next up motor goes in...

Dyno day!!!

FYI the only change in my motor build was went with stock cams for good drivability. Also, I went with a 3.3 upper pulley instead of 3.0 for now to keep boost around 20# psi. I will get the combo dialed in, then improve from there.

Well motors in with a startup/break in tune.
Have about 600 miles on the new motor.
Been doing some street tuning but need the dyno to finalize tune. (a/f, and timing)
Car runs really strong. Going to need some new M/T sneaker for sure.

I have a dyno rented today.
Sooo.... let's see what shakes loose... LOL
Wish me luck.

Man that intake seems to really choke down but I guess if it’s never smaller than the MAF, does it matter?

It looks like a JLT RAI. I don't think it's as much of an issue as companies like to make it out to be. Granted things a little different for him since he's dealing with a bigger engine. But my buddy and I have the same combos except he has the high boost and I have the RAI. We make the same amount of boost so I don't think the RAI is a restriction. At least at our levels.

Soo as the saying goes there's good news and bad news.

But for me I'm going to say there's good news and not what I expected news.

The good news nothing shook loose LOL
But I had boost fade. Made 20# at 4100 rpm but 15# at 6500.
Humm
Did someone say belt slip
01yellercobra (no snub idler)

Thats my bad cause, before I made a trip to the dyno I got up early today and tried to install the snub idler I had in my toolbox, but the pulley hit the supercharger pulley.

I should of reschedule my dyno day but the other side of me said go for it anyway.
After two pulls I installed a smaller belt.
Same results. but at least I dialed in my A/F and Timing. today.

So, two things it could be belt slip

Or like MG0h3 said that CAI I have may be like sucking through a straw.

Numbers fell short
660 hp @ 5200
709 TQ @ 4200

I would of like to see 700 if boost would stay at 20 psi
I will work on that for sure.

My money is on belt slip. I would look into a 3" griptec pulley and a snub. I really like my Whipple snub idler, you might not even need the griptec with that piece? Plenty of wrap contact with the Whipple.
