I traded my 14 GT500 in on a 16 Challenger HC about 20 months ago. I keep checking back here every few months to see if there is any credible news on a new GT500. Love the Hellcat, but wouldn't hesitate to trade it for a quicker GT500 that was just as much fun to drive. I was really hoping the new GT500 would be a TT 5.0 or 5.2 with a 10 spd automatic making about 750 HP. I could also live with a supercharged version, especially if it was a twin screw. The deal breaker for me will be if it's only available with a manual transmission. The automatic is much more forgiving at that power level and the car will be quicker on the street and strip and just as quick on a road course. The automatic also makes driving in traffic a lot easier and less stressful. Target should be Hellcats with automatic transmission, not the Demon. The Demon is a limited production car like the Super Snake, and those are going to be a rare sight with only 3000 being made and huge dealer markups. That said, there are rumors in the Dodge community that in response to the upcoming GT500, the regular Challenger HC with big brakes and 20" wheels without the silly fender flares, may be getting an optional 808 HP Demon motor and upgraded drivetrain in 2019. Saying you can bolt on some mods to your GT, GT350 or GT500 and be just as quick as the Hellcat or Demon is not really valid. The comparison needs to be stock vs stock. Those guys mod their cars just as much as the GT500 guys do. Most popular mods for HC are Intake/air box, upgraded driveshaft, smaller blower pulley and a tune. Demons are just now being delivered and I haven't seen any track videos yet, except the press stuff and those are never good. Still keeping my fingers crossed for a mid 10 second GT500 with an automatic, and will be checking back in a few months. David
