Love this series. It's a historical drama with some fictional and some actual characters about how King Alfred creates England (Saxons vs Vikings) with the help of a pagan named Uhtred. Anyone else watch it?
I love the writing, the film sets and the cinematography of how it's filmed. A lot of emotion is written into it and in-your-face bloodshed with no punches held during filming. Season two is the best and season three is currently being filmed.

I've read all 11 books (12th book just came out last week) and think they're great which has caused me to do research on some of the actual historical characters and battles that are in the books.

I've read all the books (even the newest), a big fan of the series. The episodes are kinda cool to watch but its hard to match the books. Cornwell is very talented at the battle scenes in his books. They really seem to come alive. His Sharpe series is worth checking out also.
