for an MT82, it's recommended to stick with a bias ply tire to avoid the wheelhop that damages axles. I run a 28x11.5 MT ET Street R bias ply. Honestly it's a bit tall for an N/A car with 3.31 or 3.55 gears; but I've had trouble finding any shorter bias ply tire for a 17" wheel.
since you just said "Welds," I'm assuming you meant a drag tire btw.
