In need of some help or ideas fellas. A bolt from my lfp lower broke off inside of the harmonic balancer. I tried drilling a hole in it with a left handed bit, then using a screw extractor..... And then the extractor broke in the hole.

Then i brought out the jaw puller and had no luck with that. I'm desperate for some help at this point.

Anyone have any ideas?

If the extractor is broke off in there its probably time to go to a machine shop.

That was the original plan, but I can't get the balancer off. To take it to them, and don't want to tow the car to a shop just yet

Damn man keep trying some different penetrating oils. Kroil is the best if you can find it. PB blaster is good too.

Itll be nerve racking but if you can get some pressure going with the puller and then tap around the hub of the balancer you might shake it loose.

I've been spraying the bolt with pb blaster a few times a day for about three days. The puller wasn't much help. I got to the point where I was using a 3ft breaker bar on it and gave up. Once I removed it, the end of the puller had actually started to grind itself down, and had a ton of metal shavings on it. Bad juju

Imo if you tried drilling it and extract it already with a reverse bit i imagine after that you used a reverse extractor which is a reverse tapered spiral looking bit and that didnt work then a kit like this has always worked for me.

this being the extractor that will work. Also applying heat from a torch of some sort should aid you. Good luck!

That's what I used. The tip of the reverse bit broke off inside the drilled out portion of the bolt. Gonna try taking some heat to it later today, and maybe try popping the broken piece out

oh dang, you might have to go to the machine shop. Once those break its really a PITA to remove. I believe snapon sell some carbide special drill bits to remove those broken extractors pieces. Youd have to get in touch with them. GL keep us posted!
