My wife and I have reservations to go to Las Vegas on September 23, I am looking for information on exactly how draconian the mask mandate is currently.

We would be staying at the Bellagio.

My host gave me the canned policy on masks (required indoors), and I understand he cannot say too much. But I have other information that says (at least in some casinos) that no one is wearing a mask.

Has anyone been out there (on the strip) recently and can give me a vibe for how it is?

Semi off topic, but not really: It absolutely blows me away that they would even allow, let alone require a mask in a casino, bank, gas station, etc....but especially a casino. It's actually kind of funny now that I think of it, they've probably invested billions and billions into security measures, only to tell people to cover their faces.

I check in from time to time on a youtube channel named jacobslifeinvegas. He usually does a live walk of either the strip or downtown on Sundays, and from what I can tell it's a mixed bag. Some wearing the masks and some not. I wouldn't be afraid of going during the covid, but I also realize some places may not be open or may only allow half capacity as in eating/pools and such. Hope his channel can give you some insight and help you guys out!

I was in Ruidoso New Mexico this last weekend. ( casino town )

Beer was served outdoors, you could not bring the beer inside.

Multiple security guards watching at all times inside to make sure masks stay on.

many of the machines had plexiglass between machines to separate people.

all restaurants inside casino were closed other than one that allowed take out.

was insane

I got an email from PRI about the restrictions for the show this year. Mask must be worn at all time unless eating or drinking. If I go I'll probably walk around in the morning with a Bloody Mary with bacon before switching to piss beer around 11:00am. Thinking about sitting it out this year though. We could probably get more bang for our buck going somewhere else.

Thanks guys!

I will check jacobslifeinvegas. If I didn't already have the reservations, I wouldn't even start thinking about going. We've seen most of the shows, so no big deal there. We would be out at the pool at least two days, no issue there. But the thing about gambling with masks, I am not sure if the craps tables are even open. They have plexiglass between the people? If they were more lax on it, I wouldn't wear a mask (F that).

As a citizen of the fair city of Las Vegas, maybe I can help:

1. Masks are required in public, indoor spaces...no exceptions. All the strip casinos are open (except for maybe the Tropicana...I'm not sure about that one. Mirage just reopened recently). Resorts have zero tolerance for not wearing masks. If you've seen vids of people in casinos without masks, that is a major breach by security. They are cracking down pretty hard (but see #5 below; maybe people are getting away without wearing masks because security has its hands full with the tomfoolery going on).

2. You may remove your mask to eat and drink, but restaurants really aren't packed right now. Buffets are not open. Wynn tried reopening their buffet but it just wasn't working out so they closed it back down last week.

3. I'm not sure about outdoor areas/pools. I don't think you need to wear masks at the pool but you may want to ask that specific question before you go.

4. That Jacob guy does have good info but he's a tool. If you can stand his personality you can watch his vids and get some good info.

5. I can't speak for the Bellagio, but the general consensus around town is that the cheaper prices on the strip are attracting a "lower level" of clientele. Dealers, servers, and cocktail waitresses are reporting a 70% decline in tips...in other words, a lot of lowlifes who can't afford Vegas suddenly can, and they are going and causing a lot of mischief. Crime and disturbances have increased on the strip as a result of these jackasses.

6. Bars have not reopened.

Sign of a gun store, all people in masks in our store will be shot!

Not really, more like no masks allowed this is a damn gun store..

the gun store/pawn shop I frequent requires the mask, weird as hell...everyone comes in hands up "here to shop not rob"

Oh my....

Yeah, that is not the type of vacation we were looking for.

Thanks guys, I am canceling the reservations

E

probably wise and I dunno which room you booked but when I was there last year we stayed in whatever the upgraded king fountain view room is and it was a huge let down, that place is getting close to time to knock it down and start over. Aria is significantly nicer imho

Its unfortunate that you cancelled, OP. But it may be for the best. I heard Wynn had $10 tables on Saturday night, which is unheard of on the strip on a Saturday and the Wynn is "upper tier."

I know the resorts are hurting and they were lowering prices to attract people within driving distance, but that means people from that shit state to our west are making the trip more than usual. Vegas is really expensive (pre Covid) and it priced out the lowlifes. Now the lowlifes can afford it because prices are so low.

Which begs the question...prices are lower, but why are the lowlifes spending the money? Shouldn't they be putting it away just in case they lose their jobs? Do they have jobs? LOL

I stopped by the Miccosukee Casino in Florida a few weeks ago. I was going to stay in the hotel (not interested in gambling). Found out the hotel was closed. However the gambling floor was open. I told the guys at the reception desk that this is all bullshit and that they are losing money and that other hotels are open. The one guy looked at his coworker and said yeah he's right this is bullshit! LOL.

Anyways, I had to wear a mask past the security gate. And then when I entered the place they asked me to remove my mask and sunglasses so the security camera could record my face. Then I had to put the mask back on. They might be doing the same thing in Las Vegas for those that wear masks.

my buddy went late july. he said the casino was packed, but he was the only white guy there. he and his wife are in their 60s. he said she felt very uncomfortable and wanted to leave. she said it didnt feel safe. he said it was really weird. he asked me if i knew about anything big going on there like a convention or anything lol. i guess reduced pricing is the reason and its still going on. hotel security must have their hands full. oh, he also told me when he got to the hotel the parking guy told him he would want to park his z06 in a certain lot out back. he thought that was really weird till he got to the lobby.

he said, at the time, the Wynn was the only buffet open and you had to make a reservation days in advance. and the price was jacked up to like $75 per person now and instead of walking around the buffet to get food you tell the waiter what you want and they bring it to you. i can see how that didnt last.

Eh, think I'll just spend my time on the boat.

We are going to wait until after the first of the year to see, but the Bahamas (BahaMar) should be open again then.

Same thing though, they have these goofy rules about masks and social distancing and we won't go.

I just had a sales engineer come back from two weeks in New Mexico, he said it was ridiculous. Every night they had to make reservations at places like Chilli's, and even then it was a 30-45 min wait to be seated.

He said that the Gov of New Mexico (Michelle Lynn Lujan Grisham) is telling people that they may mandate masks every flu season, and that this is "good practice". Can you guess if she is a democrat or republican?

in NM they are only allowed 25% occupancy in restaurants. No sitting at
Bar.

many restaurants will not let you make a reservation due to the 25%

it ****ing sucks

She’s not a democrat she’s a tyrant lol..
