Kershaw here.

I'm partial to the scallion (I have 3 of them in various flavors), the hand grip seems like it's for a smaller hand but the shape allows you to tuck your fingers up into it on the odd occasion you need to gorilla grip it.

I prefer non-serrated, USA built ones.

Get him a box cutter with a replaceable blade.

If he really wants a nice knife you need to be more concerned with the type of steel than brand name, in which case, Maxamet is his best bet. You'll have two options and both are Spyderco; Manix 2 or Native 5. I would disregard anyone that mentions a brand but not a steel type.

But seriously, get him a box cutter. If he's using it at work he's bound to hit a staple or something and kill the blade.
