My brother recently got a DJI Phantom 2 so after the Ice storm that hit the suburban philadelphia area this week we decided to throw the gopro on there and see what we could get. Nothing too special, just messing around but I figured I'd share them. Going on 48+ hours with no power. (Thank you generators  )

All pics were done with a gopro hero 3 black edition while attached to a dji phantom 2 quad copter. Setup like this. The last pic is probably 120+ feet up (just a guess. We almost lost the signal on the copter due to distance). Most of those trees are about 35-50 feet tall

Did trees fall over from the snow load and take power lines with them or did ice bring down the lines?

Any estimate of when they will get power hooked back up again?

damn, that last shot tho!

I really need to learn how to take pics with my hero 3 black. I've only done it by accident trying to turn it on, now I use my old droid razr as a remote for it.

Wonder if that thing could support the weight of a K?

Cool pictures, parents are without power as well up that way.

Yuck.....glad I'm in Florida this week!

Don't rub it in, Tim. You and Kim all nice and warm, relaxing with Rick while we battle the elements up here. :lol1:

We got about a foot of snow here, but not really any ice. I keep repeating to myself that Spring is 41 days away. Can't come soon enough. :(

Is that easy to fly? My company just bought one for some aerial walkthroughs of our projects and I'll be operating it... I'd hate to crash it ha.
