I am an old goat and have seen a lot in my days. However, I have never witnessed the medias destruction of everything southern- until now. The focus is on a Confederate battle flag that 150 yrs later, these twits want to remove and forget. Hell, I don't care whether your from the South or north- you all end up gravitating south as the north has left their most populated cities a hellhole of crime. ..and I would move too. Take your values with you but don't try to tell me I am wrong because of where I live, and what I believe. Enter Nascar---and might I say "****" nascar. You don't tell me what kind of colors I can where and you don't tell me what kind of flag to fly...( I prefer the GT YellowJackets flag), From the day Nascar made that announcement, the Nascar series was gone from my Tv. NOR will I buy anything I hear is advertised at a Nascar event. This is what happens when the controlling owners (family) go friggin nuts. Same for the drivers, all sports players, actors...Don't push your agenda on me.

By the way, my parents were from Ohio and moved here---I am in no racist groups including, KKK or Black Panthers...I have enough mind to be independent. But I am not tolerate of those forcing their views on me.

Anyone here feel the same?

I have a better idea, don't buy their tickets. Screw them if they have forgotten who put them into business in the first place. May be the tracks canbe converted in to water parks or something .

The city of Birmingham in Alabama wants to remove a memorial to Southern Soldiers and Sailors erected in 1905 by the Daughters of the Confederacy. It has stood in the park since erected and now it is not politically correct?
Who is really exhibiting racism? The men who fought and died on both sides did not fight because of anyones race. They stood up for their rights. The incorrect rewriting of history tries to label the Confederacy as racist and haters.
I understand your position jshen. Hopefully the fans will show NASCAR they cannot tell them who and what they support.

Bro, get off your computer and go bbq. Its the 4th.

 Why so serious? Go watch some jeff foxworthy and/or celebrate the 4th...

Because our forefathers taught us that nothing confronts modern day tyranny and re-writing of history like cramming some BBQ down the old throat-hole and watching TV. :poke:

What better day to share his views on Independence than today?

Or show your support and go to a race with a winnebago and a giant confederate flag painted on the side if you feel that strongly.

But you won't.

Thomas, that would require buying a ticket. Frankly, I prefer not buying one, nor knowing supporting a sponsor who is behind this idea. By-the-way, I saw on one of the news sites that a large pole revealed the the public at large has not changed it's views on the Confederate Flag over the past fifteen years. Makes one wonder where all of the current noise is coming from and what it is intended to cover up or hide.

I continue to laugh at this whole flag thing so much. Never have I see people get so butthurt.

This was posted at my local news site's FB page in regard to a discussion about the confederate flag.

I'm just glad the world figured out a flag killed the people in the church and not a retard with a gun.

If you refuse to watch NASCAR because locations that are private property choose to not allow something, then you were never a fan. I get the whole heritage thing, but the flag has taken on new meaning. Swastikas have been used by certain religions for thousands of years, but thanks to the National Socialist party, it has a completely different meaning. Personally I am not offended by either flag, but NASCAR is trying to expand the fan base to include minorities and for them seeing a bunch of Confederate Battle flags waving is a turn off.

I listen to NASCAR radio on Sirius pretty much all day at work, and this past week you would never have known there was an awesome race at Sonoma thanks to all the calls from people complaining about not being able to fly their flag. Richard Petty even said to just wait a week or two and everyone would forget about it.

Excellent post Jeff. I am surprised by how many of my friends will not speak out against this stupidity. Most of them are saying to watch the race and see how many confederate flags are flying. I want to watch the race and see 0 confederate flags and a sea of empty seats. Why do white people have such a hard time grasping the concept of standing up against someone. Oh yeah we are going to show our support at the race for the flag while showing nascar with a sea of green money. Rednecks really are stupid.

I wonder how well the races will show on TV when the stands are only 1/3 filled with paying people. At that point they will be giving away tickets at the grocery store, in an attempt to get folks into the seats.

i totally agree, so with that said:

why should the views of those that support the flag be forced on me by flying the flag on government property? Want to fly the flag at your home, be my guest. but not on grounds that my tax dollars support.

Lots of people here don't realize that perception trumps reality. The flag is percieved to be a symbol of racism. Good luck changin the perception of a ntion of idiots.

Why? The answer to your specific question is beyond simple.

Because years ago the South Carolina Legislature empowered by the majority of residents in your state decided in favor of having that exact flag fly adjacent to the Confederate Soldier Monument for South Carolinas war dead which are all protected military veterans.

Don't like their decision...you hold the strings to the puppets who made that call and are the same who will make any subsequent call for removal. Not a problem created by anyone else.

Personally when recognizing military veterans becomes a problem I have to wonder WTF is wrong with those opposing their recognition.

But you won't.

Do you have a solution that is actually viable because buying an RV and painting it seems a fit far fetched.
