After years of searching for the perfect car, I FINALLY found it.

The car is a 1988 Mustang LX notchback. It currently has a C5 trans and the motor is a carb'd 302 with a Victor Jr. intake, MSD ignition, Flowmaster exhaust, and a Holley 650 carb and to top it off the car actually runs (though it does have a horrendous rod knock)! Plus there is ZERO rust on it, which honestly shocked me as I've looked at hundreds of them and 99% of them are just POS rust buckets.

Well who reallly cares if it runs because, personally, I think there are far too many 5.0's on the road. Well I've done the NPI to PI swap, the 4v swap, played with the Terminator stuff, and done a LOT in the v6 world. So really to me there isn't a lot left to do.....except stuff all of my m112'd v6 stuff into the notch. Yeah that's right, this will be one of the few v6 foxbody drag cars in the country.

Plan of attack:
Gut EVERYTHING out of the notch.
Put everything I can from the v6 into the notch.
Everything that adds weight and doesn't directly affect drag racing is left off.
No power anything.
Register and get insurance on it to be able to drive it on the street.

Just to show what it'll cost to build a project racecar, I'll include a running total.

Cost:
Car- $800

Things I sold:
Holley Carb- $100

Total Spent: $700

Pics!

It boggles my mind what people do when building a car. I know "budget" comes in to mind but total hack shit is another. Should be a neat project, looking forward to seeing it done!

Thanks for the update Nathan. Was wondering what was going on with this build... What hood are you planning on going with on the notch to clear the intake and M112?

Stock with a hole cut into it for the pulley :(. He has a huge ass 5"+ or so cowl on it right now; my suggestion was to get a tiny cowl hood that has a large enough rise to clear the pulley but not be overly gaudy.

Oh well, I guess a stock hood would be cheaper.

Yeah and unfortunately I seem to pick up a lot of these "hack" cars. Oh well, I'm just a Mustang doctor it seems. :D

It made 250/296 when it was N/A as the motor has a SSM cam, ported lower intake, SSM Stage 2+ heads, and Hartland Sharp 1.73 RR's and we ran with the M112 bleeding off all the boost. We still haven't seen what the numbers are with the M112 at 8psi but we should be around 325-350rwhp and (hopefully) 375-400rwtq.

Oh it may be getting some parts taken out of it but it's far from being put on death row at the shop. I've got a 99 Cobra motor with forged internals here just begging for a new home once it gets a new crankshaft. ;-)

Thats cool! Not something you see everyday..
Thanks!

subscribing! good luck Nathan, should be sweet when finished!
Thanks! Hopefully it'll be done in time for the NMRA race in Commerce (April 14th-17th).

Stock with it cut just like the old sixer.

As it is now my friend the 5" cowl clears the pulley but with only 1/32" of space and that's without the motor torquing to one side. Even if I used one of my low profile adaptors and ran a 2.73" blower pulley I'd still need at least a 3" cowl hood.

I love the trans mount bolt! LOL
As did I!

That's sweet! So you custom installed an eaton on the v6?
Yup, about 4 years ago!

Way to be different.I like :-D
Thanks!

Yeah... maybe only if Tom and the gang promise to run N/A. Their shop car is NASTY!

great project nathan !!!!
Thanks!

New pics from yesterdays work:

Cleaned side on the left and the dirty side on the right. Once it's all cleaned it'll be painted black and clearcoated.

Engine as it sits right now. Still a lot to do here:

Dash and dash wiring is out. Still have to pull the rest of the body harness, carpet, and seats.
