When I bought this car at the end of 2010, my plan was to build a 8.50 index car and maybe do some local 275 racing. That plan was put on the back burner when last spring my mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Between all her surgeries, hospital visits, radiation, chemo, etc., I barely had enough time in a week to hold down my job. She is doing better these days, although the tumor is still there, she manages alot more on her own. Lately she has even been encouraging me to finish my car. So last year when John Sears annouced the new Ultra Street class, it seemed like a perfect fit for the plans I had for my car. So with the help of my buddy Dave Guy, we put that plan in motion. Friday my shortblock arrived from UCF(Thanks guys!!) so I got started on the longblock assembly yesterday, while Dave was working on the chassis. Here are some pics of what we have done so far. I will try to update this thread with our progress. We hope to have the car done for the first Cecil race, 4/7, but we still have a ton to do and many parts to order. The car, 2003 Cobra... UCF built Boss block, 325" stroker, JE coated pistons, Oliver rods, Kellogg crank... Fox Lake ported 4V C heads... With my buddy Andy Manson's intake just for fun... What it should look like with my intake when its done(valve covers and intake arent bolted down yet) Dave has the rear done and most of the cage. Should start mounting the fuel cell, i/c water tank, and battery this week, along with the chute mount. Then I can get busy on doing some tin work and paint everything.
