Now I just suck my thumb every chance I get.
I stopped a little over 2.5 years after 47 years. Pretty sure you've seen my pneumonia posts.

The way I explain it to younger folks is this. Each decade goes by twice as fast as the previous one. Think about it, the first ten years take FOREVER to go by, but 11 to 20 seems like it's twice as fast. Then 21-30 feels like twice as fast as that. It keeps going. You'll be 50 before you know it.
Agreed. It’s a strange phenomenon.

Actually, I’m not sure that I have seen those posts but I’m glad you’re OK. That’s no joke. I just don’t want to suffocate to death.
Good for you on quitting. It’s very difficult for most people. I always say that cigarettes may end up killing me in the end, but I don’t wanna keep actively participating in it.

My family tree tends to die out around 65 so I have about 23 years before I hit the average and I’m going to make the most of them. I am about to be divorced with a 2 yr old and a 5 yr old, life is all about them now. I don’t figure I’ll see much of my 60’s and that’s ok. No thoughts on seeing 100 but I bet it’s tough as hell.

My father is 92 and I can see him making 100. He seriously gets around better than a lot of people 30 years younger. My mother passed in Nov. '22 at age 87. She was actually pretty healthy but had alzheimer's which is what did her in.

Yes, I'd like to live as long as possible.

My grandmother is in her late 90's and I question if she wants to be here anymore. Her eyesight and hearing isn't great at this point and just about everyone she knows is deceased....including her husband and two of her three kids. My father died in December and I didn't tell her because she's been through enough. Old age has it's advantages and disadvantages.

Congratulations man. I hope my mom has the same benefit of age and health. I call her everyday when I leave work.

A Happy Birthday to your Mom @plumbcrazy

No one in either side of my family ever made it to their 90's, so not much hope for me. And 70 would be way to early for me!!

Happy birthday to your Mom.

Who knows how long any of us have. Enjoy life and let your loved one's know how you feel about them.

The part about all the friends already being dead is why I only make friends with younger people. ;)

I'm more worried about my mind than body reaching higher digits.

Two of my grandparents (on the same side) checked out at 96 and 98 respectively. Pop punched his card a year after gram and for all the bickering and quarreling they did over the years; I never saw him cry as much as he did for her. Both were quite good up until their early to mid 90's but you could see they were starting to fail and in a way it was good they went when they did.
