Yep, that's right. My SVTP Drop box. lol
Upon discussion of music and guitarist in the Prince thread I'm creating this to drop things for anyone interested in guitarist to check out.
Every day or few days I intend on dropping another vid or 2 in.

Of course opinion on this type of stuff really really depends on your favorite type of music so.....
Starting with one of my favorites and probably the most under rated guitarist ever unless you're an 80s hair band fan.

Vito Bratta of White Lion
If you can make it past White Lion's monotone singer Mike Tramp you will learn to appreciate Vito.
It wasn't just his Solo's, His Syncopation was intense, Chords and inverted type chord structures as well as rhythm fills that sound like mini leads are incredible. The bottom never fals out, not even live.
This is not some Scale shredding guitarist, his leads are way beyond that.
Since this thread was started with a certain person in mind I will start it with a remake from closer to his era. Besides it has a cool old mustang in it. lol

Lonely Nights,

And to finish this post off.
This guy covers all his solos very very well so you get a good idea of just what is happening.

Great White has probably what I would consider one of my favorite guitar riffs. Must say, a big fan of the keyboard work, too.

Wow. I had never heard anythign by these guys. Definitely not just a 80's/90's hair glam band. And you're right, Mr. Bratta certainly knows his way around the fretboard! Kind of reminiscent of Neil Schoen, but with a more hard-rock edge.

EDIT: on second listen, he's sort of like a cross between Neil Shoen and Eddie Van Halen.

Rob Arnold has some great riffs and solos... Founding guitarist of Chimaira now plays with Six Feet Under.
oldie but goodie from their debut album.

Eddie was a big influence of his. I never put the Neal Schon part together but yes, his melodic sense of the song does mimic what you would hear from Schon.

Todays lesson,
Mr Kee Marcello of Europe.
His combination of speed and melodic runs is just incredible.
Joey Tempest has some smooth vocals also.

Start with my favorite, Superstitous,
Solo at around 2:30

Let the good times rock.
Great opening lead which is speeds up in the main lead. Good bluesy rhythm. Pretty good licks throughout this one.
Main lead starts at change around 2:28

Coast to coast, great ballad and good song, tasteful lead after 2:00

More than meets the eye, Shit, just jump to 1:35, incredible

Ready or not,
Shit, after opening run just go to 2:16 and hold on

Sign of the times
Start around 2:20 if you don't want the whole song.

If you have the time,
His instructional video from 1992 where after a couple minutes of blues jam he breaks down the solos from the out of this world album.
Talks of Tension and release and other methods.

First Solo I every really saw where the guitarist starts out basically in a ballad and ends up in flight of the bumblebee.

Wow, Stamp...this is good stuff. Been doing parental duty this week. I have a lot of catching up to do.... like a few decades.

Incredible licks in Radar Love above. Crisp and tight.

The tune takes me back to the lower Garden State Parkway late one summer evening about midnight...in say 1974. Driving my buddy's '68 Vette...at 110...cranking the original Radar Love. Dems was da days.

I will be delving deeper in all this over the next week. Appreciate it, man.

A guitarist thread with no mention of Randy Rhoads. I am disappointed gents.
Randy along with Zakk were my inspirations for picking up the guitar at 13 years old. At my prime I was at the point of being able to play Children of Bodom's Kissing the Shadows. I don't remember any of those songs but I will always remember how to play Randy's Diary of a Madman and above all Mr. Crowley.

His ability to create beautiful scale progressions and his innovative ear created riffs that every guitarist on the planet knows. A quote from Ozzy's youtube page.

Randy Rhoads was quite possibly the best composer & musician that I have ever met in my life. He came into my life like a bolt of lightning and as such he was gone again. I consider my self one of the luckiest men alive to have not only met him but also I had the great honor of being able to work with him. I will cherish the time I spent with him till the day I die LONG LIVE RANDY RHOADS. LONG LIVE ROCK N ROLL. I LOVE YOU ALL." - OZZY OSBOURN.

^I didn't get there yet. lol
I will be adding as we go. I didn't want to overwhelm the guys that this was kind of directed to/at with many different names at 1 time.
Throw one out there and give a day or 2 to research and just listen.

Some of these guys listen really deep and pick out all the small parts that most just listen right over and never realize was there.
And on top of that this thread was really intended to broaden people's horizons and Spotlight guitarist that people don't know and their work.
Everyone knows who Randy is.
Most won't know Brad Gillis though who actually replaced Randy after the accident. Or who else did Brad play for.

Probably. Maybe even some Chet Atkins, but like I said I'm trying for now at least to stay with lesser known guitarist that I find interesting. The guitarist I posted so far are not know to anyone other than guitarist like myself or true fans of the bands they play in. And of course I started with the genre I know and like most.
