I've always thought the right red can look killer on the right bronze/gold color. The one below isn't the best example by any means though... I'll look for more

I just came across this one and I love the little pinstripe on the stripes on the body matching a pinstripe on the wheels...

This has been a real dilemma for me. I've seen some absolutely stunning cars done in the more traditional blue with white stripes. There are a lot of gorgeous blues out there, but I wanted something a bit more unique. Not to mention, I'd hate to get in the wrong car at a car show.

When I was a kid, my older brother had a '70 Torino 429cj and he painted it a dark metallic green. Beautiful color. I thought I'd do the Cobra in the same color, but every time I saw a green one, it just didn't do it for me.
Then I saw an octane red Challenger drive by on a sunny day and that was that. Just a beautiful color and it fits well on the Cobra. As for stripes? Maybe traditional white, or some ghost gray or more likely, none at all. Suggestions are always welcome.
No stripes or white stripes would be my only choices. I feel like anything else would take too much attention away from the base color.

That is sharp. I've already committed to traditional Halibrands and chrome sidepipes however. Maybe an accent pinstripe that goes with those?

Based on all the photos you find with a Google search, the vast majority of Shelby Cobras (including replicas) have stripes. It's the common denominator. IMO a stripe-delete Cobra looks incomplete. The classic Shelby Cobra (or replica) just looks so much better with stripes IMO. But those who prefer no-stripes certainly can go that route.

I hear ya, Mr Shelby drove around in a stripeless one though.

While the blue car is a beauty, (they both are). My vote would be no stripes and certainly not any fender tags. Let the paint do the talking. In the movie Ford Vs Ferrari Shelby’s car had no Stripes and looked just like it should have

I agree the blue looks incomplete without stripes, but I think the Octane Red will be able stand on its own.

A couple of red, stripe-delete Cobras

That being said, I also ended up looking at a bunch of red Cobras with white stripes and would have a really, really tough time deciding. They also looked phenomenal.

I agree, the red is a good color to do many things with. If I went blue, I'd almost be obligated to put stripes on it.
I'm Jealous here, I would take one, stripes or no stripes. Good luck on your build, looks great so far and it will be an awesome machine when done no matter what colour you paint it.
