Well I took my Mach 1 to get tinted last saturday and the morons that did it not only did a shitty job they also scratched and marred up the quarter panels, c pillars, decklid, spoiler, doors, rear bumper, roof and fenders. So I decided to clean it up clay it and correct the damage that was done. I am going to go tomorrow and demand a full refund for the tinting so I can take it elsewhere to get it redone. I still need the hood, front bumper, seal the finish and dress the trim, as well as the interior and clean up the wheels.

Products & Tools used -- hours spent so far 19 1/2 hours

Optimum OptiClean
Mothers Showtime (clay lube)
Claymajic Fine Grade
IPA at full strength
FLEX PE 14-2 Rotary
5" 3M backing plate
3" Gloss it backing plate
Uber Green 5.5" & 4" pads
3" 3M Orange waffle pad
Scholl Concepts S17+ (using this for most of the correction because it cuts fast and finishes down really nice)
Menzerna Powerfinish
Meguiars M105

How in the hell did they do that much damage. It looks like they dropped a wet shop towel into a bag of gravel and wiped your paint down!

That much correction would have cost them at least $400.00 in SoCal. Probably quite a bit more.

You workmanship was great. Plus you have the best tools out there with your Flex and the products that you listed.

Nice clean up work. How in the world could they hand your car back over to you with a straight face? Unreal, looks like they had on a rodeo belt buckle while they did the work!

Thanks guys it does suck that they did all that damage, but I am happy I am getting it corrected. The good thing is I have so much $ invested in detailing products and tools to get the job done. Bad thing is I could have used that $ to go FI on my Mach:( But at least it will look great.

Nice job on the correction. It looked like they washed your car with a Brillo Pad.

I put in another 4 hours so 23 1/2 hours this far.

I finished the correction work (hood and front bumper) as well as cleaning the wheels, tires and exhaust tips. But I only put Chemical Guys V7 due to being tired. So I still need to apply two coats of Wolfs Chemicals Bodywrap this week and clean the interior as well as treat the door jambs, sills and trunk. I will try and get better pics once I am completely done.

Looks absolutely gorgeous man. It's takes so damn long to do a complete job on a car. I bought my OW Cobra 3 weeks ago and the entire car looks like someone swept dirt off of the car with a broom, it was awful. I've been doing at least a panel a day wet sanding with 2000 grit, hitting it with M105, M205, then M21. The products you're using and your skills are making your Mach look better than new. Kudos to you for having the patience necessary to do it

Thanks again guys:)

Flamedstang95, I suggest you use 2500 then 3000 or just 3000 Meguiars Unigrit sand paper if your going to wet sand. Do you have a PDG? I usually dont wetsand unless I am using touch up paint or have very severe defects that I want to remove or orange peel. I usually live with a few RDS than compromise the clear, since wetsanding eats a bit of Microns/Mils off your clearcoat. M105 will usually get the job done alone without having to resort to wetsanding. You should try it with a Lake Country PFW (purple foam wool) pad thats if your using a rotary and not a D/A. If your using a D/A than I suggest some Surbuf R pads for some serious cut with M105;)

Cleaned the mach up today with some Optimum Instant Detailer and tried out the Dr. Colorchip kit I received yesterday. I have to say this kit is great I recommend it to any of you guys, you get plenty of touch up paint and the microbrushes are a perfect size for getting in the chips without causing these huge blobs. The blending solution works great and removed the excess paint with ease and little to no pressure with the supplied cloth without marring my finish.
